Hurricane Debby made landfall in northern Florida on Monday as a Category 1 storm, bringing what forecasters say could be “historic heavy rainfall” across southwest Georgia and South Carolina’s coastal plain.

00:37We do have an emergency declaration in place, not only from the state, but we also have the county's emergency declaration in place.
00:45We have four municipalities who have likewise issued an emergency declaration as well.
00:50The city of Tybee Island, the city of Savannah, the city of Pooler, and the city of Port Wentworth all have emergency declarations in place as well.
00:58So we've come together now to issue this resolution.
01:03Resolution declaring a continuous state of emergency due to the tropical storm Debbie and the implementation of a mandatory curfew beginning August the 5th, 2024 at 10pm and continuing until August the 6th, 2024 at 6pm.
01:22All of the municipalities will then also put in a curfew.
01:27Heard the mayor from Savannah said that they're going to put in their curfew will go into effect.
01:32Everyone's curfew will go into effect at 10 o'clock tonight.
01:36This is not a martial law type thing, but it's designed to help us to move our system around the county safer.
01:46That's what the purpose for the curfew is to get folks out of the way of what you've never seen before.
01:52All right. This type of rain hovering over us coming with the intensity that they tell us that is coming.
