00:00When a swan seal saw me with a bottle in my hand, she wanted it.
00:14A piece of trash is a brand new experience for them.
00:17That curiosity can put these animals' life at risk.
00:21Before that, that seal completely had its head through the handle of the bag.
00:26Hey everyone, Michael here.
00:28For Earth Month, I'm working with the Dodo and I'm going to take you all out for a dive.
00:31We might find some seals or some sea lions.
00:33Let's suit up and get out there.
00:35Every dive is a cleanup dive.
00:37I find so much trash.
00:41Diving in this beautiful, amazing ocean, I'm going to leave it better than I found it.
00:46My first time being that close to a seal, I saw this little dark figure zoom by.
00:51I got my hair combed by a harbor seal.
00:59Do you feel a sense of surprise every time?
01:02These encounters are always a surprise to me.
01:05The encounter was on the seal's terms.
01:10So while I was on a cleanup dive, the craziest thing happened to me.
01:15I feel two little taps.
01:17Sure enough, you have this dark blob on your leg.
01:25I'm a ticklish person.
01:27I was laughing to myself underwater.
01:34Beautiful encounters like these have only deepened my appreciation for these animals.
01:38So I became determined to continue cleaning up their ocean home.
01:41Good morning.
01:43I noticed this young sea lion playing with this plastic wrapper.
01:47It kept grabbing it, chewing it, spitting it out.
01:51Luckily, the sea lion spat the trash out.
01:56And I used that window to grab it.
01:59This is probably happening every single day.
02:02What kind of trash do you typically find?
02:05I find all kinds of trash.
02:07By removing pieces of trash, it can save marine life.
02:15Seeing these animals thrive has been an amazing experience.
02:18Harbor seals take these little water rests.
02:21They pin themselves between rocks and close their eyes.
02:28The ones that don't pin themselves between rocks free float like a hot dog on the ocean floor.
02:35Communicating with each other, chasing each other, playing games, playing tag.
02:39It's like this massive ballet that's just constantly happening underwater.
02:43It's gorgeous.
