00:00The East Antrim coastline on a sunny day is hard to beat, but what are some of the best spots in the area?
00:07We visited Carrickfergus and Whitehead to ask residents and visitors alike for their opinions.
00:14Yes, I would say probably Browns Bay, Ferris's Bay, Portmuck. Here it's quite nice.
00:25Well, for us we always come down here because it doesn't matter the season. We like to walk along to the lighthouse and climb up to the top.
00:35It's always good scenery and Whitehead is certainly improving in the hospitality end for the restaurants and coffee shops as you can see.
00:48So it's pulling a lot of people in. Larn also, we would park down at the leisure centre and then you'd walk right through to Cornfunnock again, so it's very good along there.
01:04Well, we come from Lisbon and we do come here a few times a year. We like it because it's quiet and peaceful. We just come here, we get our tea break and then we come down here and we like to walk along a little bit.
01:17My wife can't walk too far and we just love the whole look of the place. We love the houses, the coloured painted houses and just walking along the seafront here and it's always quiet and peaceful, which is what we like.
01:33We always come down here and we walk around the beach and the log cabin.
01:38And any other spots along the seafront?
01:43I know you can go along the beach and stuff like that, don't you? And then we'll go into town and maybe have some tea.
01:49So a couple that we really enjoy, just around the corner from us, Kilcreggan Farm on Coronation Crescent. My kids used to go there a lot to visit the animals and they also have a very nice little garden centre and a nice cafe called The Dancing Goat, so we like it.
02:06Another place, because we live that side of Carrick, the Bishop's Palace down at Fort Road, beside the salt mines. Nice little walk down to the old ruin and a little creepy graveyard to have a look around, so that's another place that we like.
02:20Probably around here, Grantown Castle.
02:25Usually here, because I like to climb on the rocks.
02:29The castle, yeah, you like to climb on the rocks.
02:33I like going to Whitehead. I travel by train because I use my pass and I get off at the train station and I like walking along the path to Blackhead.
02:46And on the way back, I normally stop at Shores Cafe, which has just opened recently, and I love sitting along the front all a good day and watching the Stella Line coming in before I would get the train back home.
