00:00Lads, it is good to see you both.
00:03I imagine it must be really nice when you get to make a film back home.
00:07But do you both really crank up the Boston
00:10when you're back on hometown?
00:11For sure, yeah.
00:13And this movie kind of called for that, too.
00:15It was a very Boston movie.
00:17And the dynamic between those guys
00:21and kind of the sensibility, the sense of humor,
00:24all of that stuff is kind of what we grew up with.
00:26Yeah, when I come back to Boston, even if we're not working,
00:29I can find myself putting it on a little bit.
00:32But now Boston's kind of changed.
00:33So not everyone has, you know, this big, heavy Boston accent.
00:37So sometimes you're walking around putting on your Boston
00:40and people are looking at you like,
00:42where's this guy from?
00:44I think you're pretending to be Boston.
00:46One thing I think when everyone watched the trailer,
00:49they were like, is that Jack Harlow?
00:52How did Jack Harlow end up in this movie, Casey?
00:55Well, actually, it's a funny story.
00:56I was just on a road trip, and I happened
00:59to be in San Francisco, and there was a music festival.
01:01And so I went to the music festival,
01:03just looking for something to do, and he was playing there.
01:05I met him, and he just really hit it off.
01:11He was great.
01:11He's a really, really super funny, nice, smart guy.
01:15And it was clear that he was, like,
01:17got a lot of different talents, and that he
01:19was interested in a lot of different things.
01:21And he had just finished working on White Men Can't Jump,
01:25a remake, and he was talking about that
01:28and how much he liked it.
01:29And so then, cut to a year later,
01:32and we were trying to figure out how to cast this movie.
01:36And I said, why don't we ask Doug if he
01:40wanted to meet Jack Harlow?
01:42And Doug is so open-minded about any suggestion
01:46from anyone all the time.
01:48He said, yeah, OK, sure.
01:49And he got on a Zoom with him, and he loved him right away.
01:53And boom, he's in the movie.
01:54He does an incredible job.
01:56Yeah, he's a really good actor, Jack.
01:57He was really, like, very, very present, very in the moment,
02:01like, just excellent.
02:03Really is.
02:04I'm hoping that I now see both of you in one of his music
02:07videos going forward.
02:08He hasn't asked us yet.
02:11Damn it.
02:11We're going to get it out.
02:12I'm going to make it happen.
02:13I wouldn't say that either of you
02:16are particularly helpful in this heist that goes wrong.
02:21But you as Casey and Matt, have you
02:24got any quality that would make you helpful in a heist?
02:28I don't think I would.
02:29I mean, unless you want someone to perform monologues for you
02:32during the heist, that's basically all I can do.
02:35Yeah, probably not, no.
02:38I can't even run that fast anymore, you know?
02:40Obviously, you are one of the co-writers in it, Casey.
02:43What was it about Matt that you just knew that you
02:45wanted him for that part?
02:47He didn't write the part for me.
02:49Matt's one of the best actors alive.
02:52It's kind of a no-brainer, no matter what the part,
02:55the way the part's written.
02:57And he also likes to come in and sort of,
03:00he doesn't just show up and say the lines.
03:03He comes in early on and works on the script
03:07and makes things better.
03:08So he was an obvious first ask and just happened to land him.
03:16You guys back together, along with Doug as well,
03:19it's such a great team up.
03:20It really does work very well.
03:23The relationship between the two of you,
03:25is it in any way similar to Rory and Colby?
03:29I mean, maybe in the moments when we just
03:31start riffing with each other.
03:33We've known each other for 40-something years.
03:35And I'm a little older than Casey,
03:37so he's been like a little brother to me my whole life.
03:40But we've gone through all these phases.
03:42When he graduated high school and moved out
03:44with me and Ben in LA, and we were all
03:46struggling actors together.
03:47And Ben and I were working on the screenplay.
03:49And so we've kind of lived with each other
03:52through all these various stages,
03:53eventually marriage and fatherhood and all this stuff.
03:56So it's just a massive amount of kind of common experience
04:00and memories from kind of a life living
04:04kind of alongside each other.
04:06So I think that stuff hopefully comes out
04:09in the little interactions in the movie and makes it fun.
04:12The goal of this movie was just to be
04:13really entertaining and fun.
04:15We wanted it to be a joyful experience for the audience.
04:20And hopefully we got that.
04:22Oh, you did.
04:22You guys together, like I said, it's great.
04:24It's great on screen.
04:26So I hope you do more projects together.
04:27I really do.
04:29Thank you so much, guys.
04:30Lovely chat to you.
04:32Cheers.
