00:00Give me three and two one!
00:05Dogs have different needs and sometimes a muzzle is required.
00:12I first noticed Duke was reactive when he was about seven, eight months old.
00:20And I didn't think too much of it, honestly, because he was in that adolescent age.
00:26You want a snack?
00:28No?
00:29Okay, that's still cute.
00:31After he turned one, it started to escalate just a little bit.
00:43And it was kind of nice that they did that because then we're all very comfortable training our dogs
00:49and getting our dogs more exposure in the safest way possible.
00:53That was a huge turning point for us because then I didn't feel so stuck.
00:58The biggest misconceptions about dogs that wear muzzles is that they're aggressive,
01:04they're going to hurt you, they're a bite risk.
01:08But that's not always the case.
01:13His triggers were other dogs and loud or fast-moving objects.
01:20Training-wise, we like to do a lot of exposure with him.
01:24He's just mostly insecure in certain situations and he just needs to build his confidence.
01:30So it's just a lot of trips to different dog-friendly stores.
01:34He does really well in those situations now, which is awesome.
01:38I have had to invest many, many hours into his training,
01:44and I don't regret even a second of them.
01:48This boy somehow got out of his muzzle and his raincoat.
01:55He looks so happy. Oh my god.
01:58Duke has been muzzle training for about a year now.
02:01It's been amazing the stuff he's been able to overcome.
02:10I'm so proud of him every day.
02:12Tell him thank you.
02:14Yo, face-to-face with an intact male and zero reaction.
02:21What? What?
02:23A lot of reactive dogs I see, they end up being secluded.
02:27They end up being stuck at home, and that's not a life that I want him to live.
02:31He deserves so much more.
02:33I brought him into my life to give him the best life possible,
02:36and I fully intend on doing that.
02:39He's going to see everything.
02:41Some reactions that we do get are quite wholesome,
02:44and then it's a great chance for me to talk to people.
02:48Some kids, they're passing by, and they are scared.
02:51But it's my responsibility to show that just because he's in a muzzle
02:55doesn't mean that he's a threat.
02:57I truly believe that there are no bad dogs,
03:01and every dog has a chance, and every dog can be worked with.
03:06So it's really important that we keep pushing and supporting each other
03:11in overcoming these issues.
