Finally got the replacement to the defective USB onboard LAN.
Transcript
00:00Hello Internet, Sister Root. I managed to snag the network card I needed to get in order to replace the on-board Ethernet.
00:13So, here it is. That's what I had to get.
00:21So, the other thing is I had to put the camera in monotone because it kept flickering like mad. I don't know why.
00:28But, it was flickering and flickering and flickering and I couldn't see shit.
00:34And it was causing problems.
00:37And, for those that get epilepsy, that would not have been a nice thing. It would have been terrible.
00:44So, I had to factify it and put this in monotone.
00:48So, once I get the wired LAN card upgraded, that put in, I'm going to disable the on-board through the setup utility.
01:00And, that would be all.
01:03Because, ASUS is such an idiot for routing it through USB.
01:10It's literally a USB LAN card.
01:15So, once this is in, it will not be a USB LAN card no more.
01:24And, it won't disconnect every 20 seconds.
01:28Is what it was doing on occasion.
01:31The only way to solve it, turn it off.
01:34And, from Linux, literally turn it off.
01:37Disconnects it, virtually.
01:40And, reboot the computer.
01:43That solved it.
01:45But, it could happen again.
01:47And, again.
01:48And, again.
01:50Something I don't want to deal with.
01:53Especially, uploading videos that are very big in size.
01:58I'm talking gigabytes.
02:01Because, I would hate to start over again and again.
02:04Which, yes, start the upload, not the video, again and again.
02:09Because, it is very infuriating and irritating.
02:13You know what I'm talking about.
02:16Yeah.
02:18So, that's the upgrade.
02:20It was well worth the money.
02:22It was the lowest cost 10 gigabit.
02:24Yeah, 10 gigabit card I could find.
02:28The others were around $1000.
02:31Upwards of close to $1000.
02:33I was not about to pay that.
02:35I checked it out.
02:37It actually is genuine.
02:39It's good for a home network.
02:42Not for a server class.
02:44Because, it probably sucks if it was a server class.
02:47But, anyways.
02:49That will set me for the future.
02:51Considering this thing's on board.
02:53It's a measly 2.5 gigabits.
02:55And, you know.
02:57As speeds get higher.
02:59And, prices go lower.
03:01I'm going to be changing my package to reflect that.
03:05So, that will be fucking nice.
03:11Wouldn't it be great to upload a 256...
03:15A quarter gigabyte file.
03:17Sorry, a quarter terabyte.
03:19In roughly half an hour.
03:21That would be beautiful.
03:23Or less.
03:2415 minutes.
03:26That's the whole point.
03:28But, I'm not changing my package right away.
03:31I'm just getting things ready.
03:33Getting things ready in terms of the future.
03:35You know, future proofing.
03:37This machine is already future proofed.
03:39Unless the motherboard croaks on it.
03:41And, goes fuck itself.
03:45Which, it already has to a point.
03:49But, if I got to return it.
03:51You know, get a warranty swap.
03:53And, that doesn't do fuck all.
03:55Well, there really isn't much I can do.
03:59Spend another 2.5 grand on another machine.
04:01That's not that motherboard.
04:05I don't know.
04:07Oasis, or another manufacturer.
04:09Make a Ryzen capable.
04:11A Ryzen capable.
04:13Ryzen 9 capable.
04:15Board that can take up to 128 gigabytes.
04:17Or, possibly more.
04:19Or, will I have to buy a Threadripper server board.
04:23You know, EATX.
04:25And, go with a...
04:27A Threadripper?
04:29Maybe.
04:31Maybe.
04:33I may have to.
04:35I may have no other choice but to do that.
04:39Order the parts into the store.
04:41They arrive for pick up.
04:43But, I do not pick it up the same day.
04:45I let them assemble it.
04:47And, as I bring back the computer.
04:49Fully assembled.
04:51I set it up.
04:53And, I power it on.
04:55Existing storage goes where it goes.
04:57You know the drill.
04:59Existing wireless LAN.
05:01Sorry.
05:03Existing wired LAN.
05:05Hard disk graphics RAM.
05:07If applicable.
05:09Otherwise, I got to buy more RAM.
05:11And, that's for the RAM that I have.
05:13If it's not capable for that board.
05:15I would just fucking sell it.
05:19So, that's one way to do it.
05:21Or, I can...
05:23Ship it off to one of my dear friends.
05:25Out in Kingston.
05:27And, he'll gladly take it.
05:31I don't care if I have to lose money.
05:33I don't expect him to pay for it.
05:35He's a good friend.
05:37Very, very good friend.
05:39Anyways.
05:41That's all I got to say.
05:43This video has gone a bit too long.
05:45Okay.
05:49Feel free to subscribe.
05:51And, have a great day.
