A triangle of friendship, love, sex, and, perhaps, murder. Minou is newly married to Peter, a businessman in debt as he works to bring a new product to market. They met through Dominique, sexually voracious, Minou's best friend, and Peter's former (and possibly still) lover. A stranger accosts Minou one night on the beach while Peter is away. He tells her that Peter has murdered a business associate and blackmails her into sleeping with him. He compounds the blackmail with photos taken of their tryst. To Minou's surprise, this same stranger is in a pornographic photo Dominique has imported from Denmark. Is this all a game, and if so, who's behind it?

00:10:32He just held you down and he threatened you. It was probably some kind of a prank
00:10:38But look at what he did to my dress. That was no prank. He's a maniac. I
00:10:47Was so afraid
00:10:50He said
00:10:52He said that Oh Peter
00:10:55He could have done anything he wanted
00:10:58But he just went away
00:11:02Why would he do that, but you should have phoned the police at once in fact, we should call them now
00:11:07No, the police just make you fill in forms

00:12:34No, that problem might arise if you came along and told me you had a lover but not like this
00:12:39Why on earth should I love you less because of a sex fiend? I know I'd still love you. Even if I was raped by an Amazon
00:12:47Peter I

00:16:09The autopsy revealed that death was due to an embolism
00:16:13Commonly called the bends
00:16:15Condition which is generally caused when a prolonged deep immersion is followed by rapid surfacing without allowing
00:16:23sufficient time for decompression

00:17:26This case an ill wind blows good. I owe John a lot of money
00:17:30You have to pay it. Anyhow, don't you to his heirs or estate?
00:17:34Naturally, I do there's no way out of it

00:19:54But have you seen this man again?

00:26:51What's he at 15.0 leave him there inside there's 15 atmospheres of pressure look
00:27:02It's as though that man was in water 150 meters deep
00:27:09Peter is a fraud. What if I told you he's a murderer?
00:27:15It's very dangerous for a man at that depth why
00:27:19To bring a diver back into normal atmospheric pressure he needs long stops at intermediate pressures very time-consuming
00:27:26What do you mean?
00:27:28If he didn't he'd be dead in a matter of minutes from the bends a kind of embolism
00:27:33I love you, darling
00:27:49I love you, too
00:28:03I love you, too, Peter. Why don't you confide in me?
00:28:10You're so distant preoccupied
00:28:14You know that whatever you do my darling Peter I'll always be with you
00:28:28Peter
00:28:31Peter yeah, I wanted to ask you. Hmm while he was at the beach
00:28:48But I'd be ringing at two o'clock, well, we'll see
00:29:00I
00:29:04Don't remember me now, you know who your husband murdered
00:29:11You do know don't you?
00:29:13Or do you still have doubts?
00:29:15You stop this or I'll bring in the police. You hear I wouldn't advise that
00:29:20Otherwise, I might let them hear this recording. I
00:29:23I
00:29:25Guess we can take him out of the decompression chamber now. Look his face is turning blue
00:29:31Are you sure? No one will suspect anything. Don't worry. It looked like a normal drowning. I think it was suicide
00:29:36Who cares?
00:29:38And if you don't keep that appointment tomorrow, I'll send the recording to the police you recognize Peter's voice it's up to you
00:29:47You'll enjoy it sure. Okay Dominique. I'll see you tomorrow. Good night
00:29:54So that's who it was Dominique, yes, she she's a very nice woman

00:34:06How much do you think in other words how much will you give me
00:34:23This recorder belonged to Dubois who used it to record his business meeting. I'm sure he never thought it would record his murder
00:34:30I
00:34:37Brought a thousand dollars
00:34:46Where did you get it?
00:34:49It just came into my possession

00:35:44When I make up my mind I don't hesitate
00:35:47remember that
00:35:48Your husband's not mad, but he murdered a man. He owed money to
00:35:52And you're quite sane yet. You come here to give me your money to protect a killer
00:35:56I
00:35:59Both of you think that your money can buy anything you're worse than animals
00:36:05And yet you call me mad
00:36:07Let God me open that door
00:36:14But suppose you do leave and your husband would go to prison

00:36:42No, not like that me do
00:36:49You have to beg me to plead for love you have to long for me with passion
00:36:56You must suffer and be my slave
00:37:03Undo your belt
00:37:09Undo your belt and take off your coat

00:38:16So far I've held up, but I don't know how long I can go on like this. We've surmounted bigger obstacles than this
00:38:23Hmm skip it. What are you doing?
00:38:30The Dubois account
00:38:33This morning we had a letter from the lawyers for the estate
00:38:36They're just as bad as Dubois. Why don't we ask them for a postponement? I'm sure our lawyers could stall them for a while. Yeah
00:38:43Don't waste your breath
00:38:46Tell them that we'll pay them, right
00:38:52Yes, I guess I'll come right out George hmm leave the ledger here

00:49:13Unless you'd prefer your husband to receive copies of those delightful photographs
00:49:18He'd be thrilled by your expression when you're kissing me you boot your vile
00:49:24You dirty filthy coward and when my husband hears everything that you've done. He'll kill you
00:49:31Husbands don't like wives who think them capable of murder and spend the day hopping into a bed with me
00:49:39Could you possibly have believed that your Peter was a murderer?
00:49:43I'm surprised at you. It was simply a matter of imitating his voice
00:49:50Of course he didn't kill Dubois I
00:49:55Made up the whole story you must be lying. You couldn't have
00:50:03Know his voice
00:50:07But why get so upset my dear
00:50:10Aren't you glad to know you thought he was a murderer. Oh, you know that you were mistaken I
00:50:16Expected you to be grateful
00:50:18You must have a reason for doing what you did
00:50:22You are the reason
00:50:39I

00:52:45You feel like you're burning I
00:52:48Can still feel his hands on me?
00:52:50I've washed myself a hundred times and I still feel dirty, but you did it for Peter
00:52:55You don't have to feel guilty about it. I don't know anymore
00:52:59I just don't I keep wondering why I believed everything he said it worries me
00:53:04Would you get me something to drink? Of course dear
00:53:09Now get a hold of yourself
00:53:13You know what bothers you most
00:53:15You may have unconsciously wanted him
00:53:17It seems you had a lover more deprising than usual and I presume you enjoyed it. I didn't enjoy it. I
00:53:25Didn't enjoy it
00:53:27Here drink this
00:53:30Minou there are two kinds of people in the world the ones who look for protection and
00:53:37The ones who want to give it
00:53:39You did the right thing in telephoning me. Thank you
00:53:43I've always counted on Peter
00:53:46Completely he's been everything for me husband father
00:53:51And now it's all changed. I don't know what to do anymore
00:53:58Unless we can manage to buy him off it'd be better to tell Peter. No, I don't want Peter to know anything about it
00:54:06And I've already tried offering him money. He threw it in my face
00:54:10He only wants to play this dirty crazy kind of game. What did you offer?
00:54:15$1,000 is that all you have? I don't know. I suppose I could sell my jewels for
00:54:2210,000
00:54:24Okay, I'll double it
00:54:26Let's see if that interests your man. I'll bet you'll be a lot more careful way throws that
00:54:33Everyone has his price even a maniac
00:54:36I
00:54:52Yeah
00:54:54No, no, I just can't accept it. You see Peter's business isn't going well
00:54:59I don't know when I could ever pay you back. I don't want you to pay back. It's a Christmas present
00:55:05Why do you want to do this Dominique? Don't let it worry you dear you already have enough problems. Thank you
00:55:13Thank you, Dominique
00:55:34I
00:56:04I
00:56:26Come out
00:56:31You enjoyed it so much you've come back for more
00:56:35You
00:56:38Here's
00:56:3920,000 it's all yours. I
00:56:42Want those negatives and you must promise to leave me alone forever
00:56:48But those pictures may not be for sale
00:56:58Where are the negatives you hope to defeat me with your money, didn't you?
00:57:05You expected to make a fool of me
00:57:08He knew
00:57:10Someone offered you a sum like that to spend the night in bed with him
00:57:14You'd accept it
00:57:16What a bastard you are. You mean you wouldn't
00:57:21Be willing
00:57:22To do anything. He wanted to try don't touch me. I know
00:57:27You have done it for 20,000. No, certainly not
00:57:32Wow
00:57:34Why should I let you buy your freedom back for that?
00:57:38You got what you wanted once if you make me do that again first, I'll kill you then I'll kill myself
00:57:48Do you remember how our bodies locked together what passion you felt there me no
00:57:55It was such a great pleasure that now you've come back to pay me
00:57:59If anyone does you'll pay for this. I'll take your money and leave
00:58:03There are three days to think about it my dear
00:58:06If you don't come back your husband gets a copy of each photo
00:58:10They give him ideas and he sees what you can do just three days remember
00:58:15Three days you pig
00:58:32I
00:59:02I
00:59:32I
01:00:03Here a nice cup of tea
01:00:06and
01:00:08Don't have any more crazy ideas like that. Why shouldn't your husband believe you?
01:00:13How could I have believed that he killed DuBois the same way I believed your blackmailer would accept the money you offered
01:00:20Of course, he might have accepted and continued anyhow
01:00:24Who knows perhaps he didn't think of it. It's puzzling though. He's crazy
01:00:29He doesn't think like other people there's no telling what he's going to do next he's not stupid when he wants to lay a trap
01:00:39Anyway, it's time you told Peter. How can I?
01:00:43He's your husband Minou. I'm sure it'll be alright
01:00:47Stay with me when I tell him I'm frightened. All right, so you better tell him now right away
01:00:55Call him at the office
01:01:07She thought like a woman you can't blame her for that
01:01:10Minou adores you and that man found out that he could count on it. That's how he managed to frighten her
01:01:16All your wife wanted was to save you from a blackmailer
01:01:20and if she
01:01:22And if she
01:01:24Did anything that she shouldn't she believed it was for you. How could she believe it?
01:01:29How could she believe I'm capable of killing someone just to avoid paying off a loan?
01:01:34Then to take it so seriously to the point where she has to act like a prostitute to destroy the proof
01:01:39You can't expect me to like it
01:01:42What do you have to say
01:01:44Yes, Peter. It's quite true. I
01:01:47Was stupid only Dominique is right. I loved you even when I thought you were a murderer
01:01:53But now it's all over me. No, you're being very silly sit down
01:02:11Now we'll do things my way
01:02:13I
01:02:18Love give me the Commissioner, please. It was here
01:02:43I
01:02:57We're not supposed to but if there's any trouble we'll say that we found the door open
01:03:13I
01:03:43I
01:03:59You're quite sure the apartment was this one why of course I was here it seems to have been empty for years
01:04:13I
01:04:16Better take her home. I'll see what I can find out
01:04:25Peter
01:04:26Hmm, you don't believe it's true
01:04:29Yes, of course I do but but Peter look right here. There was a huge divan about this wide and
01:04:36In the corner, there was a Chinese devil. I know I couldn't be wrong
01:04:43And here there were lots of small hands made of plaster sticking out you see
01:05:02But me new now it's empty are you quite sure of course I'm sure I told you there was a huge
01:05:08Divan right here and a red Chinese devil in this corner and lots of small hands made of plaster right there
01:05:14I'll never forget it
01:05:16Yeah, sure, but it sounds like a bad dream
01:05:18But Peter, please believe me. You must believe me. I swear everything I tell you is true. I swear you
01:05:23Yes, now I'll take you back home
01:05:39I
01:05:41Still taking those pills
01:05:45They're the only things that keep me sane Peter, I think they're bad for you
01:05:51It's really my fault
01:05:53Upset you with my business worries
01:05:55Peter I wish it were a nightmare that I only dreamt it
01:06:00You think I'm crazy. Of course not. You're just a bit tired and it's time. You got some rest
01:06:06You must have gotten into the wrong apartment or perhaps it was the wrong building
01:06:11Peter, please it was that one. I can't explain what happened to the furniture, but it was there
01:06:18Never mind now it's time for bed Peter. What do you love me still?
01:06:23Of course, this hasn't changed anything
01:06:26Thank you. That's the only thing that really matters
01:06:35I
01:07:05I
01:07:35I guess one of the lines was down.
01:07:42But I heard someone walking around and then the light went out.
01:07:47All right, my dear. We'd better have a look.
01:08:05Well, shall we make a tour of the whole house?
01:08:18The noises came from the studio.
01:08:20Then I guess we'd better start there.
01:08:28Peter, I'm frightened.
01:08:30Take my hand.
01:09:01Look at the floor. Why, it's all wet.
01:09:09Don't move.
01:09:30Do I deserve a drink after that fright?
01:09:57You deserve it. I'll get it for you.
01:10:08Peter! Peter!
01:10:10Peter, that man!
01:10:12What is it?
01:10:13Look, there he is. He's there.
01:10:15A man?
01:10:16No, he's disappeared.
01:10:17Disappeared?
01:10:18I saw a man. The one.
01:10:20What man?
01:10:21But he's disappeared.
01:10:22But who?
01:10:23It's true.
01:10:24Stop it, will you?
01:10:25Peter, it's true.
01:10:27Be quiet. Stop it, Minou.
01:10:29Why are you making all this up? Why?
01:10:49Relax now.
01:10:52I'll wait outside.
01:10:53All right.
01:10:56Breathe in.
01:10:59Breathe deeply.
01:11:11Hello, Peter.
01:11:12Hi.
01:11:13How's your wife feeling today?
01:11:14Better. The doctor's with her now.
01:11:16You find anything?
01:11:17Sort of.
01:11:19That flat's unrented.
01:11:21It has been over a year.
01:11:24Are you quite sure?
01:11:25Mm-hmm.
01:11:26No.
01:11:29I'm terribly worried, Frank.
01:11:31Last night she even saw this mysterious person standing in front of the window.
01:11:35May I?
01:11:36Yes, of course, doctor. Come in.
01:11:39Frank, this is Dr. Thomas, Commissioner Ruiz.
01:11:42How do you do?
01:11:43Your wife needs a complete rest.
01:11:45Apparently she's suffering from nervous exhaustion.
01:11:48Of course, I won't know more without making some tests.
01:11:51But I would say she should stop taking those tranquilizers.
01:11:54Yes, I know they're bad for her.
01:11:56I've tried breaking her the habit without luck.
01:11:59She could use a change of air.
01:12:00A trip, perhaps.
01:12:02You mean by herself or you mean with a friend?
01:12:05No, I meant she should go away with you.
01:12:07She has to be near you, you see.
01:12:09Even if she only imagined this persecution fantasy, the motive behind it was you.
01:12:13It's meant to attract you.
01:12:15I dare say lately you've probably been busy.
01:12:18Yes. Yes, very.
01:12:21But you know I have a business. At this moment I...
01:12:23Take my advice.
01:12:25Your wife needs to be loved more than she needs any medicine I have to offer.
01:12:29I don't know.
01:12:31I don't know anymore, Dominique.
01:12:33I'm beginning to really believe that I'm going mad.
01:12:36That I must have invented it all.
01:12:38Of course you're not going crazy. You couldn't have invented it.
01:12:41Listen, I'll be over to see you when I finish work.
01:12:45Yes, please.
01:12:50I know you'll feel better when you talk about it.
01:12:52Thanks.
01:12:54You're marvelous.
01:12:55Okay. So long.
01:12:57Bye.
01:13:05Doctor, thank you for your time. I'll phone tomorrow.
01:13:07Please do. At my office.
01:13:09Yes, I definitely will.
01:13:10Good day.
01:13:12Nice to meet you, Doctor.
01:13:15Well, Peter, there's nothing more I can do.
01:13:25Hello.
01:13:26It was a bad mistake to get the police in this.
01:13:28A bad mistake.
01:13:31Didn't I warn you?
01:13:34It's three days.
01:13:35Peter! Peter!
01:13:38Quickly!
01:13:39Peter, please hurry!
01:13:41Yeah, go on, yell.
01:13:45Soon you'll be dead.
01:13:46It's him.
01:14:09The correct time is 11.37.
01:14:12The correct time is 11.37.
01:14:16The correct time is 11.38.
01:14:20Why won't you believe me? It's true.
01:14:23I tell you he was on the telephone.
01:14:25He said he was going to kill me.
01:14:27Peter, why would I want to make up this story?
01:14:30What reason could I have?
01:14:33You don't believe me.
01:14:35Minou, this person who has been bothering you,
01:14:38can you give me a description of him?
01:14:41Why, of course.
01:14:44I can even show you what he looks like.
01:14:47Here, I've got a photograph of him.
01:14:56But it was right here.
01:14:58I know it was.
01:15:00I swear it was.
01:15:02But where is it?
01:15:04It was here.
01:15:06Someone's stolen it. It's gone.
01:15:08It's gone.
01:15:10But it was here. I put it here myself.
01:15:12I know I did.
01:15:14Here in my purse.
01:15:16Minou.
01:15:18Dominique.
01:15:20Please call Dominique.
01:15:22She can tell you.
01:15:24Please call her, please.
01:15:26Sure.
01:15:27They're pure pornography, Commissioner.
01:15:29I do what I like when I'm at my place.
01:15:31Don't you?
01:15:33The Commissioner doesn't mind.
01:15:35But Dominique, tell him.
01:15:37You gave me one of those photos.
01:15:40I can't quite recall.
01:15:43Are you sure, Minou?
01:15:45Dominique.
01:15:47But why hide it?
01:15:50You know, Minou objected to my witness for erotic art.
01:15:55I'm sure I wouldn't forget if she borrowed any.
01:16:03Excuse me, Commissioner.
01:16:05Can you give me a light?
01:16:11Thank you.
01:16:14Take off your clothes.
01:16:15They're photographs.
01:16:17You can have it.
01:16:19I want you.
01:16:21What's wrong?
01:16:22It's my profession.
01:16:23A Christmas present.
01:16:28You're welcome.
01:16:34Listen.
01:16:35I want to work with you.
01:16:37Of course.
01:16:56Here's the mail, sir.
01:16:58Thank you, John.
01:16:59Let me see.
01:17:01I finished, sir. May I go now?
01:17:02Yes, of course.
01:17:03Good night, madam.
01:17:04Good night, sir.
01:17:05Let me see.
01:17:12You won't find those photographs, Minou.
01:17:14Because they don't exist.
01:17:16But I was pinning my hopes on it, Peter.
01:17:19It would prove it.
01:17:20That it was all true.
01:17:22I didn't just dream it.
01:17:24I told you it was only a nightmare.
01:17:26You dreamt it.
01:17:28And now you must try and forget all about it.
01:17:30Promise me that you will.
01:17:32Believe me, darling.
01:17:33I really want to.
01:17:35And believe me.
01:17:36Your king is in danger.
01:17:40I want to pretend that we've gone away.
01:17:41Oh, no, Peter.
01:17:42What if it's something important?
01:17:45Yes?
01:17:46No, George.
01:17:48You'll have to try and arrange it alone.
01:17:50But Peter, you know they're expecting you.
01:17:52What do you mean, expecting me?
01:17:53What do I mean?
01:17:55Remember, you set up this appointment for us.
01:17:57You said it would save us.
01:17:58You can't walk out.
01:17:59Those Germans are at the hotel now.
01:18:01And I think they'll agree to put in the new capital.
01:18:03What's wrong?
01:18:04What is it?
01:18:05Hold on a minute.
01:18:06An appointment with those Germans.
01:18:08I was supposed to see them tonight.
01:18:10Doesn't matter, Peter.
01:18:11Go if you have to.
01:18:12I'll be all right.
01:18:13Sure you don't mind?
01:18:15No.
01:18:19All right, George.
01:18:20I'll come along.

01:27:45Bye-bye.
01:28:09Peter?
01:28:10Oh, darling, you see, there was a man.
01:28:15I wasn't imagining things.
01:28:18Stay right there.
01:28:20Of course, there was a man.
01:28:22He was my invention.
01:28:25You know, it was all my idea.
01:28:27It was all planned to drive you insane
01:28:32and make you commit suicide.
01:28:35Unfortunately, this fool here took too long about it.
01:28:38He enjoyed playing the maniac
01:28:39and forgot that I was paying him to follow instructions.
01:28:43No, it's not possible.
01:28:46No, it can't be true.
01:29:08Sure, they'll find another sex killing to report.
01:29:13And the police will thank the bereaved husband.
01:29:19Peter, stop.
01:29:33When I got here, that maniac was about to murder her.
01:29:38Drop that knife.
01:29:40But Frank, I've saved her life, don't you see?
01:29:43Come on, drop it, Peter.
01:29:46But you've got it all wrong, Frank.
01:29:49Well, all I wanted to say was...
01:30:05You were right.
01:30:09What you said on the telephone seemed incredible.
01:30:12Dominique, Minou.
01:30:18Dominique.
01:30:19You poor darling.
01:30:28Telephone the laboratory team and order an ambulance.
01:30:39Minou, Minou.
01:30:41Excuse me.
01:30:45I must ask you to help me with my report.
01:30:47I'll be glad to, Commissioner.
01:30:49You'll be all right, dear.
01:30:51Are you coming?
01:30:52As soon as I finished here.
01:30:56Were her injuries serious?
01:30:57I don't think so, but she's still in shock.
01:31:00She'll be all right. Don't worry.
01:31:06Take one from that side.
01:31:09Thank you.
01:31:22Did you know him?
01:31:25Yes.
01:31:38Take a shot of the other one.
01:31:39I've never needed one more.
01:31:43Tell me, how did you know what was happening?
01:31:47I didn't really.
01:31:49In the beginning, I didn't pay any attention
01:31:51to Minou's strange behavior or her mysterious blackmailer.
01:31:54No photographs, that's enough. Outside.
01:31:57Go on.
01:31:59Oh, I began to get suspicious when George mentioned the fact that
01:32:02that Peter had taken out a lot of life insurance on Minou,
01:32:05apparently for a great deal of money.
01:32:08And for money, Commissioner,
01:32:10Peter would have even murdered his own mother.
01:32:14And when I heard about that photo,
01:32:16it was obvious to me.
01:32:17Because of that photograph?
01:32:19The one photograph I gave Minou.
01:32:21And it was the one error that Peter committed.
01:32:24He forgot that he'd given it to me
01:32:26during one of our visits to Copenhagen.
01:32:30And we met him on that same trip.
01:32:32He was making a living with photos
01:32:34and personal demonstrations.
01:32:36You mean?
01:32:37Personal demonstrations.
01:32:40I admit he was well built, all right.
01:32:47A phone call for you, sir.
01:32:49Oh, thank you. Hello.
01:32:51Excuse me. You have a cigarette?
01:32:53Sure.
01:32:54No, not right now. I'm tied up.
01:32:57Have you got a light?
01:32:58Sure, lady.
01:33:02Oh, I'll call the office later.
01:33:06Thank you.
01:33:07That's right. Bye bye.
01:33:11Please, you were saying?
01:33:14No one knew that photo,
01:33:15except for Minou, Peter and myself.
01:33:18And he was the only one who could have wanted it to disappear.
01:33:21But by then I realized it was a question of
01:33:23finding the right moment to phone you.
01:33:24Waiting was a bit dangerous.
01:33:26If I'd said anything sooner,
01:33:28nobody would have believed it, you see.
01:33:31Is this professional jealousy I detect?
01:33:36I must thank you again, but you must be tired.
01:33:39Can I have you driven home?
01:33:41Sergeant.
01:33:42If you don't really mind, commissioner,
01:33:43I'm sure you don't care.
01:33:45We'd better not bother the sergeant.
01:33:47But if that man wants to.
01:33:49As you wish.
01:33:50You.
01:33:51Yes, sir.
01:33:53Accompany the lady home.
01:33:55Thank you.
01:34:03All right.
01:34:05All right.
01:34:06Get those photographers out of here.
01:34:20How do you feel now?
01:34:21I've never felt better.
01:34:22I'll wait in the car.
01:34:23All right.
01:34:24Well, young lady,
01:34:25the only thing I advise is that you stay off those tranquilizers.
01:34:28Don't worry, I will.
01:34:30And the whiskey.
01:34:31Good for you.
01:34:33Thanks.
01:34:35And you won't have to worry about the factory.
01:34:37But the proceeds from Peter's life insurance policy
01:34:39will have plenty of capital now.
01:34:41We can talk about it later.
01:34:42I just want to rest now.
01:34:46Call me.
01:34:46I will. Thanks.
01:34:47Bye.
01:34:49Bye, Dominique.
01:34:51Where are we going?
01:34:52I've had a brilliant idea.
01:34:54Why don't we go to my house?
01:34:55I've got some new photos from Copenhagen.
01:34:56They're fun, you know.
