00:00kind of backed ourselves into a corner for better or worse.
00:03We what they call activated our catalogue for the last six years or so.
00:10And there's only so much activation you can do.
00:15But also as much as we love our material
00:18and we really love the people that love our material and love playing and all
00:22the rest of it, we in our little beating hearts of band life,
00:27we're really wanting to play some new stuff that it is an electric album.
00:30But you can look back at, you know, even from God to Better Living.
00:34You know, it had bad funk stripe on it.
00:36You know, it had some some calmer moments.
00:39Maybe it's a little bit more diverse
00:41on this record, and that might be a representation of us being.
00:4530 years old earlier in our career was sort of what wasn't encouraged.
00:50We signed to American Universal America in 1997 for a worldwide deal.
00:55And when they released God to Better Living
00:57in America, they took Just Ace off the record because they thought it didn't fit
01:02what we were meant to be.
01:05So we were kind of encouraged to not do
01:08poppies or whatever, whatever Just Ace is, I don't know.
01:10But I believe that's sort of our strengths because we enjoy it.
01:13I think before it was a bit there was a bit more knives out backroom
01:19kind of stabby stabby.
01:21I want my song on the record.
01:23Fuck you, your song shit.
01:25But we're much more democratic, I guess,
01:27probably comes with those 25 years or 30 years on the road that we felt if we were
01:31going to do something now, it should be something that's done
01:34in good faith and good spirit.
01:36I think if we'd continued with the same
01:38dynamicism, dynamicism, I'm using good words today.
01:44I'm just laughing at what would have happened.
01:46I don't think the band would have lasted.
01:47So I think in 2017, when the band kind of wrote, you know, sort of there was
01:52definitely a different is definitely a shift in the way I know that the way I
01:56approached things and that's continued now.
02:02Yeah, I think there's a different I mean, we're just older.
02:05And I think, you know, you're not necessarily wiser, but you've
02:08definitely got a bit more experience about how to approach things.
02:13Joe and Chris still don't answer my calls
02:15and forget my birthday, but that's on brand, you know.
02:19So, yeah, there's still that.
02:21And that's always going to be the way.
02:22But yeah, I think that if anything,
02:28after the 2017 tour, when we did Guide,
02:32we sort of we realised maybe we had perhaps undervalued what we had.
