00:00Police arrested a man in Antipolo, Rizal due to assault on his 13-year-old girlfriend.

00:07The suspect refused to give a statement.

00:10EJ Gomez has the first news.

00:15This 20-year-old man was cornered and unable to escape the police's arrest due to assault.

00:22He was arrested in his own house in Barangay Calawis by the Antipolo City Police last Tuesday afternoon.

00:29According to the police, the assault happened in September of last year.

00:34The victim was the 13-year-old girlfriend of the suspect.

00:37The victim is a minor with her best friend and they had a drinking session.

00:49When the victim got a little drunk and her girlfriend fell asleep, she was shocked and that's when the rape happened.

01:06The victim made a complaint to her parents and filed a complaint against her boyfriend, who refused to end the crime.

01:14When the police arrested him, he was already gone. The suspect ran away.

01:21He was hidden in Antipolo, San Mateo and Rodriguez. He was transferred.

01:31With the help of a tip from the family of the victim and the surveillance of the police, the suspect was arrested.

01:39They found the location and from there, they were able to effect the warrant of arrest.

01:47The suspect refused to give a statement.

01:54The suspect is currently in custody in the custodial facility of Antipolo Component City Police Station.

01:59Based on the warrant of arrest issued by the regional trial court in Antipolo,

02:05the case he is facing is a statutory rape because the victim is a minor and there is no bail recommended by the court.
