00:00Hey, guy. Hey, bud.
00:04He was just waiting for me to come outside,
00:06letting us know that he lived here now.
00:08He's a very brave boy.
00:10Hey, buddy. Want another treat?
00:16We posted, we tried to let people know that he was here
00:19in case he belonged to somebody,
00:21but nobody had any idea where he came from.
00:24No one recognized him.
00:26And so, step one was the vet.
00:30Going to the vet with our new dog.
00:35So we got him in to get looked at.
00:37He did really well.
00:39He fooled us immediately that he was going to be
00:41a really even-tempered dog.
00:43And then, on the way home, we stopped him,
00:45we washed him up because he was caked in dirt.
00:48That is a good dog.
00:52Partner Shiloh immediately started using language
00:54that made me realize that he was invested in keeping this dog.
01:00Yeah, what do you...
01:06Once he was fully fed and safe
01:08and realized that he was going to be loved and cared for,
01:10he was fully able to have, like, a whirlwind attitude.
01:17Anything that he could get into, he could.
01:19We found out early that anything that was about
01:22shoulder height or lower was ball-toe territory.
01:26He'll be really adorable and funny,
01:28but it's, like, something he really shouldn't be doing.
01:30And we have to be, like, stern parents about it
01:32to make sure it doesn't happen again.
01:34But it's so cute.
01:36Give it back.
01:38Where did you even get...
01:40Where did you even get this little...
01:42Ugh.
01:43I think my favorite weird thing is when we find something
01:46that we definitely didn't purchase for him or for ourselves.
01:50Finding, like, a Subway sandwich.
01:52Finding, like, a Subway sandwich.
01:54I don't know where he got the sandwich,
01:56but he picked out all the jalapenos
01:58because he didn't like them.
01:59We didn't eat Subway.
02:02We did not purchase his home.
02:07Walter, where are you?
02:10I'm glad, actually, that he is kind of a high-needs animal
02:13because I want to be able to practice
02:15what I spend so much time trying to get other people to hear.
02:19As a gay trans person,
02:21we are made to believe that
02:23small changes and adjustments in systems
02:25are not worth it for us.
02:27To not have that attitude in my own house is really important.
02:31That nobody's needs are too small.
02:33That everyone is worth consideration and time,
02:36even if it's going to be challenging
02:38because I think our family has tremendously benefited
02:41from his presence.
02:44Did he take your bonus?
02:46Are you going to take his bonus?
02:48We're really, really lucky that he chose our house.
