RSPCA begins task of re-homing more than 250 dogs
The RSPCA has started the mammoth task of re-homing more than 250 dogs following the closure of a labradoodle breeding business in northern Tasmania. Some of the labradoodles have already found their forever homes and are adjusting to life outside a pen.

00:30in return for dropping dozens of overbreeding charges.
00:33Around 130 dogs have now been removed from the property.
00:37The RSPCA aims to remove the rest by the end of the month.
00:40Some of the dogs are taking a little while to decompress and some of them have got low muscle tone,
00:45they're a little thin, they're a little weak to be desexed just yet.
00:49Some have never had contact with a human and have genetic health issues due to overbreeding.
00:54When Jasmine arrived at Cara Christie's house a month ago, she was thin, with matted fur and urine burns on her paws.
01:02She was also unsure of people, unsure of hands, it was the first time that lots of things had touched her.
01:09They're coming round in a matter of hours, even the most timid, by the next morning they're starting to be curious about their surroundings.
01:17The RSPCA believe current regulations don't go far enough to deter breeders from mistreating animals.
01:23They're calling for reforms such as a mandatory code of practice, registration for breeders and compulsory reporting to improve animal welfare.
01:32I think the outpouring of support from the community would show any government that it's time to act.
01:40While rehabilitating the dogs will be a challenge, the RSPCA is optimistic they'll adjust to domestic life with help from their new carers.
01:48So we were able to decide to call her Jasmine, Princess Jasmine in Aladdin because we will show her the world, shining, shimmering and splendid.
