00:28again well known in these parts and lee one thing we learned already tonight

00:34don't believe everything you see into a losing record yep and i think this will be the same

00:38going into this fight you know eddie lopez comes with a losing record but i think he'll do the

00:43same as the previous opponent he'll come here and he'll give it his all abdul khan looking sharp

00:49come out lowly tan looks like he's looking to maybe bring lopez on a on a shot but uh

00:56doing the right things early on because it's such pedigree what do you think it does for you when

01:01you have a name that's that's so closely related to one of the i mean you're not just talking about

01:07quite a good fight so you're talking about one of the most decorated and established fighters

01:11in british boxing history do you think that can work in your favor or do you think it works against

01:15you when you have a name like khan yeah it's going to obviously attract eyes isn't it it's going to

01:20make people take notice and tune in and see what you've got to give so i think abdul will be wanting

01:27to show of course live up to the name and and look flashy and look good and sharp and he's doing that

01:33so far you can see he's clever he's smart and he's thinking he's thinking about what he's doing i can

01:38i can see um he's he's either going going forward to attack sometimes you'll see him he's actually

01:43trying to set lopez up he'll put his hands up expecting lopez to throw look at the counter

01:50but yeah in total control uh throughout the first round yeah so far so good from abdul khan who's

01:56doing a good job of just letting his man come forward and then catching him as he does but then

02:00as lee mcgregor rightly says happily switching it up and throwing those hands back and although

02:05there's not many knockouts on his record it's a nine and oh record for khan with only two knockouts

02:10he wouldn't be surprised if if he continues to land like this maybe he gets the third one there

02:14tonight it's a very very strong start from from khan completely different style of fight from the

02:19last fight we saw tonight that was all action from the word go khan happy to just take his time and

02:25either let lopez come into him or if that doesn't happen take the initiative on his own i'm just

02:31happy to take that breather in the center of the ring knowing that lopez is going to second guess

02:35himself having been caught a couple of times already chopping right down there's a good reach

02:40advantage for khan as well and that works in your favor doesn't it lee when when you know that this

02:44fighter needs to come forward but you've got the reach on him you can happily step back and chop

02:48down as he's done a couple times already tonight yeah you can see what khan's doing as well he's

02:53he's got that low low left hand but every now and again he'll he'll give the high guard look

02:59and that's you can see he's trying to draw lopez to walk on our career but he's letting his shorts

03:04he's sitting down on his shorts here and really letting them go like you said only two knockouts

03:08but i wouldn't be you can see there he goes into the high guard you can tell what he's trying to do

03:12he's trying to draw lopez onto a counter lopez i think is is more in the mode of just trying to

03:20survive and so he's definitely not going to bite him and and walk on to khan's counter what he's

03:26trying to do you can see that's exactly what he's trying to do and then lopez isn't going he isn't

03:31biting for the counter so he's just teeing off on him good round teeing off indeed thunder in left

03:37hands left hooks in particular uh from abdul khan there in that fight clear winner of the round of

03:43the first round of that fight tonight featherweight action here in bolton abdul khan looks very very

03:49good and comfortable in there i mean it's going to be a major turnaround already i don't like

03:53ryan fighters awfully after one round but i can't really see any way that lopez turns the tide in

03:59this fight you know we saw in the last fight okay after our first couple of rounds he showed that

04:04he could probably box a little cleverer but he didn't have to fight at times that ahmed did

04:09and that turned the fight and you can see the previous fight after yeah was working he worked

04:14at a very high pace for the first two rounds and then faded but you can see here what abdul

04:19khan he's being patient with his work he's not loading up he's not exerting a whole lot of energy

04:25and he's still in full total control so yeah it'd be a miracle for for lopez to turn this fight

04:32only even after one round well round two almost underway as the referee just asks for lopez's

04:39corner to be cleaned up and asks his corner who says he doesn't understand i think he does

04:45understand as the referee says we need to get you out the ring quicker eventually round two does get

04:51underway khan straight up to the center of the ring throwing that jab out again as lee says letting

04:56his man come in as he does there and catching him with the counter knowing he's got the speed and

05:01the power on his mind and lopez really here has to box a little bit clever i think just to

05:07just to stay out of the way of those left hands again because if if khan's allowed to tee off on

05:11those left hooks he will show his strength he will show the power and ultimately it could be a shorter

05:16night for the spanish good shot though the spanish comes over the top just that time did get connection

05:24one can't can't straight away retaliating going to the body then going back upstairs

05:30it's a confident performance so far from abdul khan who's returning to his hometown of bolton

05:37with a little exchange there but his last two fights have been in dubai

05:41he's getting international rounds in as well it's a good performance though as both fighters come

05:45forward and now khan really can let his power go and pull lopez into the kind of fight that

05:51will work in his favor if he uses his power correctly

05:55so he's off a nice double job to be able to swing him right a little wild maybe khan just needs to

06:00calm down a little bit lee yeah i'd like to see him going back to doing what he was doing in the

06:05first round it was very patient being smart touching with the lead hand trying to draw

06:10lopez on the counters wasn't biting with the counters so he was he was then going with his

06:15attacks but i think he's loading up a little bit in this round still in full total control

06:21but yeah just stick to doing what he was doing in the last round he looked very flashy

06:27very sharp and explosive at times when he did let his shots go so yeah more of that in this round and

06:32i think he looks like he is going back to that now starting to get on his bike a little bit and

06:38show his skills as well as his his power it's very good movement from khan

06:44happy to throw a couple jabs and move back and watch the fist go flying past him from lopez who

06:50really he's kind of stuck between a rock and a hard place now because if he gets on his bike

06:53he knows khan can catch him he's got longer legs bigger stride bigger step will catch him quite

06:58quickly he's looking good at cutting the ring off and throwing those big hammer fists when they land

07:02you can feel them from here lee but if he tries to get into a fight lopez and get on the inside

07:07he's susceptible to uppercuts and short hooks like that one and again either way well that's

07:14why they call it a rock and a hard place i guess yeah khan's he's going on his bike now and again

07:20then he's he's going with a high guard and he's he's sitting down in his shorts and really letting

07:24the hard shots go um it's actually good work it's impressive uh these are the the perfect

07:31learning fights for guys like khan he's this is his 10th fight tonight you know he's starting to

07:36he'll be looking to and in my opinion i think he's going to be looking to step up and

07:41and get some step up opponents so yeah he's doing the right things against a guy like lopez

07:47enjoying himself but also being quite brutal at times when he needs to be

07:53first time in the uk for eddie lopez tonight just to refresh your minds on what's coming down the

08:01card isaac lowe is up next of course first scheduled he was the headline fight tonight

08:08taking on the man to my right he'll now fight dangerous brazilian juan ates rodrigo next

09:03what a nice right hander keeping making sure this this is what i mean these guys that

09:07lopez and you can't switch off you know you total cruise control for the can

09:14low low hands enjoying himself but again always needs to be switched on

09:21yeah just for a moment lopez saw a little gap threw a hand over the right and when you're

09:27the shorter man and you bow the head down and throw the hand right over you can generate

09:31a little bit of power and he did that time it landed on khan's

09:35cheek nice left to right hand good work

09:40he did take a little bit of confidence from that as tries it again but calm wise to it

09:44this time and happy to throw as lee says left and right good left up there

09:51and then moves out of the way quickly not letting lopez have the same success twice

09:58and there he is doing again lee as you've said first and second round tonight he raises that

10:04guard high you know what see when abdul can goes up in levels and class i think this this is where

10:14we will see how good he actually is because he's shown great potential and you know these traps

10:18that he's trying to set on lopez not really getting away with them because lopez isn't

10:23really biting he's just more in sort of survival mode and he'll fire back with the odd shot but

10:28someone who comes to win against abdul can we'll see that as an opportunity take it and that's when

10:34abdul can will show his class and and obviously you can tell that's exactly what he's trying to

10:38do he's trying to counter but someone like lopez who's who's more here just to survive really

10:45wing back with the shot now and again hard hard to pull them them kind of things off but again

10:51definitely when he moves up in class these little traps that he's trying to set that's where we'll

10:57see see them pay off sometimes they won't sometimes they will this is what i mean this is

11:02you go up higher in class and levels this is where it comes more about thinking tactics

11:09smart using your boxing iq whereas no disrespect the lower levels it's more a case of who wants

11:17it more they both fight down on the gum shield and they both go for a fight but you can see

11:22abdul khan is talented he's got a high iq and he likes to set traps thinking about what he's doing

11:28that's when when you've got the levels you'll see more of that you know good movement from khan and

11:35you're sort of hesitant to to make the obvious comparisons but you know he throws a straight

11:40one too so quickly as his cousin amir that was you know speed was his main skill that was that

11:46was his best skill by a mile and khan will work on that throwing those straight one twos and then

11:50getting out but susceptibly as you said there a couple of right hands sneaking through if you are

11:56that higher caliber opponent and when you have a name like khan the bigger dogs will see that you

12:01know they'll they'll sniff a little bit of blood around that and think if this guy can land a

12:05couple of right hands then so can i and my right hand is harder than his right hand yeah you can

12:09see he is fast he's got a good hand speed definitely looks like he's got a better pop as well

12:15power than them and that right hand left hook right hand is sharp and again you're right as

12:20cousin that's one of his cousins best best combinations left hook right hand so fast

12:27yeah both both you can see the comparisons you can see the similarity and i can imagine obviously

12:34abdul has learned a lot and tries to you know learn off of his cousin and probably do the same

12:42same techniques same drills and training and like i say learn learn a lot from them well they'll have

12:48grown up you can guarantee he'll have grown up watching cousin amir on the tv and you know maybe

12:52if he's too young to go to those fights in person and he'll be shadow boxing the exact same style

12:57that'll that'll have been the inspiration more than any other and then following that off i mean

13:01of course amir since his fight with terence crawford i think it's quite common knowledge

13:05that the two have become quite good friends they've been seen in camps together and working

13:09together crawford of course was in team khan ahead of the brook fight last year but uh

13:15abdul khan although he shows signs of mimicking that movement he is his own fighter and he is

13:21showing good power as he follows up with a two and a three and giving lopez no choice but to

13:26come forward lopez with his knee on the canvas here not a knockdown trying to grab hold of his man and

13:32as lee mcgregor says survived this round he's not really had any success in this fight the odd the

13:38odd job the odd right right hand over the top has got through but nothing that's really shaking his

13:43mind nothing that has really given him for and now khan throws consecutive lefts just to leave

13:50his man in no doubt of which way this victory is going if it carries on like this definitely

13:56very impressive performance from abdul khan here he's showed a bit of everything he's sat in the

14:00pocket of time being brutal let his shots go he's he's went on the back foot showed that he can box

14:07showed they can move yeah really impressive what i've seen good performance and he's finishing off

14:13the finishing off this fight sitting down and you can see he's trying to get really lopez but these

14:18guys yes always firing back like we've just seen there yeah they're the kind of shots that like you

14:23say when he's sitting down on them and planting those feet and throwing them even if they land

14:26on their hands they they do wear you down a little bit but like you say the right hand did come back

14:32and don't care which fight you are if you take shots to the chin you run that risk yeah abdul

14:39was letting his shots go there i would have just liked to have maybe seen a little change in angle

14:43going off of the side and obviously would have been making lopez miss with his coming back with

14:51him swinging right hands you know where he's just sitting in front of him a bit too long

14:55and he's obviously going to come back and fire back and land them shots so

14:59but yeah he's he's in full control and looking good while doing so

15:03i think maybe if it was a couple more rounds could have potentially even got

15:08got the stoppage yeah backs his man into his own corner here and just again lets the hands go

15:13now the hands there's the change i was looking for i'm a little more weary as

15:17lee says just moving around stepping to his right and trying to find that gap

15:22yes they are coming back from lopez but they're now much more weary

15:27khan just seems to be moving up another gear although a couple landed through then lee you

15:33wouldn't be overly impressed with that if you're in the corner of abdul khan but as the clapper

15:37goes surely it's a home victory tonight yep he's he's boxed well he's he's showed a bit everything

15:45in there and a good win for him definitely yep you would expect so as both fighters shake hands

15:52at the end of a four-round contest in the featherweight division abdul khan all set to go

15:5910 and 0 on what is a little bit of a homecoming fight for him his last two fights over in dubai

16:05but tonight against the spaniard eddie lopez from andalucia on his debut fight in the uk

16:11you would expect it to go to the man from balton live european championship boxing live and free

16:19tonight on channel five is our main event 10 p.m that kicks off chloe watson taking justine lalamond
