Brazilian civil defense teams worked through the night to recover the remains of passengers from a plane that crashed on Friday (Aug 9) near Sao Paulo, claiming the lives of all 62 people on board.

Regional carrier Voepass initially reported that the plane was carrying 57 passengers and four crew members, but confirmed on Saturday that an additional, previously unaccounted-for passenger had been on the flight, bringing the total number of casualties to 62.

00:13The Sao Paulo state government reported that by Saturday morning at least 21 bodies had
00:18been recovered, with two victims identified at the scene.
00:22All the bodies are being transferred to Sao Paulo's police morgue.

01:47The aircraft, an ATR-72 turboprop, was en route from Cascavel in the state of Paraná
01:53to Sao Paulo when it crashed around 1.30pm local time in the town of Vinhedo, approximately
02:0080 kilometers northwest of Sao Paulo.
