A female jaguar was born at the Parrot World zoo in Crecy-la-Chapelle, Seine-et-Marne. The animal, which does not yet have a name, has been received as "great news" by staff, who say that one of the zoo's objectives is to "reproduce threatened species in the wild".

Today, the jaguar is considered a near-threatened species, largely due to deforestation.
