00:00Does Marvel's recast of the Russian get Kevin Nash's seal of approval?
00:04Let's just say...nyet.
00:07Deadpool and Wolverine is full of cameos from characters who hang out in the forgotten corners
00:10of Marvel's multiverse.
00:12They include Elektra, who is associated with one of the worst superhero movies ever made.
00:17Remember me?
00:18There's also Gambit, who Channing Tatum finally got a chance to play years after his planned
00:22solo movie failed to materialize.
00:24Unfortunately, the filmmakers couldn't find room for anyone from 2004's The Punisher adaptation.
00:29Though a variant of the Russian appears, played by actor and stuntman Billy Clements.
00:34By no means is he the most notable cameo in the film, but it caught the attention of former
00:38WWE champion Kevin Nash, who portrayed the villain in the aforementioned Punisher flick.
00:43The Behemoth is one of the assassins who's tasked with eliminating Thomas Jane's titular
00:47vigilante, which leads to a violent showdown in a tiny apartment.
00:51Speaking on Click This, the Kevin Nash podcast, the wrestler-turned-actor had some harsh words
00:55for the latest iteration of the Russian, who, in a departure from the clean-shaven face
00:59and blonde buzzcut his character rocked in The Punisher, has brown hair and a beard in
01:03Deadpool 3.
01:04He said,
01:05That looks nothing like the character I played.
01:08That looks nothing like the Russian.
01:10It looks like they gave somebody a favor.
01:14It's a fair assessment, but to be fair, it'd be difficult to find actors who would resemble
01:17Nash's Russian.
01:19After all, Big Sexy is a giant human being with a distinct look.
01:23While his comments might sound critical, he said he wasn't too bothered about Clements
01:26stealing the role he made famous.
01:28In fact, fans shouldn't hold out hope for seeing the hulking Magic Mike star on the
01:31big screen any time soon.
01:33Nash discussed his current acting ambitions on Click This, sarcastically implying that
01:37he wants to take it easy these days.
01:39He said,
01:40I'm 65 years old.
01:42What I want to do in life is, I want to go someplace that's not my crib, and be in a
01:46hotel, and work a 12-hour day, and then leave, and go home, and while I cook and prepare
01:50my meal and eat it, go over lines for tomorrow.
01:53While I sit and make up the next day, have somebody run lines with me, and then every
01:56time I get a break, run lines again before I shoot a scene, or a scene we're not in,
02:00find somebody to run lines with.
02:02Clearly, Nash doesn't like the mundane routines that come with being an actor, but at least
02:06he got to experience some excitement back when he was filming The Punisher.
02:10That is, if you consider almost dying an exciting experience.
02:13The Punisher is a violent movie that required all of its actors to get physical to some
02:17degree.
02:18Of course, Kevin Nash's experiences as a pro wrestler made him the ideal candidate for
02:22an action flick of this ilk.
02:24Still, taking bumps in the squared circle and being stabbed in the chest are two different
02:28things, which Nash can attest to.
02:30Speaking on another episode of Click This!, Nash recounted the story of him being stabbed
02:34on the set of The Punisher.
02:36The moment occurred during the sequence when Thomas Jane's Frank Castle attacks the Russian
02:40with a butterfly knife.
02:41He explained that although they had a designated prop knife for the part where he actually
02:45gets stabbed, they used a real knife for the other frames, all for the purposes of realism.
02:50Due to negligence on the prop director's part, Nash ended up on the wrong end of the
02:54real knife.
02:55Yeah, so I got stabbed right here in the collarbone.
02:59Fortunately, Nash survived to tell the story, and he doesn't hold any ill will toward Jane
03:03for stabbing him.
03:04Still, when you consider that Deadpool and Wolverine is loaded with meta-jokes about
03:08its actors' personal lives, the filmmakers missed a golden opportunity by not recasting
03:12Nash and commenting on his dramatic experience.
03:15As such, fans will forever be left wondering what could have been.
