00:00We call Wisconsin America's dairy land. A major milk and butter producer, it's one of
00:10the key battleground states in the race for the White House. When Donald Trump was president,
00:16farms hurt by his trade war with China received taxpayer-funded payouts.
00:21So basically you became a mailbox farmer where you're just waiting for the next Trump check
00:26to come in the mailbox.
00:27After Jill Biden's disastrous debate performance, Les Danielson was bracing himself for a second
00:34Trump term.
00:35I would have had a hard time after listening to the debate voting for Biden. I was shocked
00:40and disappointed.
00:41Show me what democracy looks like.
00:42This is what democracy looks like.
00:46But the mood amongst Democratic-leaning voters has changed dramatically. Kamala Harris' ascension
00:52to the top of the ticket and her choice of running mate injecting newfound energy.
00:58Hello Claire.
00:59He's just a real down-to-earth midwestern guy and really excited for the rest of the
01:05country and the US to meet him.
01:07We were all kind of depressed when Joe was going downhill and this just revitalized everything.
01:14The margins between winning and losing in Wisconsin can be razor thin. Joe Biden took
01:20it in 2020 by about 20,000 votes. Donald Trump in 2016 by about the same margin. Now
01:28his supporters are hoping he can win it back again.
01:31Third generation farmer Scott Bishop wasn't convinced when Donald Trump kicked off his
01:36bid for the presidency in 2015.
01:39When I seen him coming down the escalator, I was like, God, you know, this guy is a billionaire
01:44from New York. He doesn't, you know, what is he going to care?
01:46But he was soon won over and he felt better off under Trump.
01:51The trade agreements that he has done has just been incredible with China and that got
01:56our corn prices up, our bean prices. He really, I mean, just cared about the farmer and nobody
02:03else has ever done that.
02:05It could come down to the wire again in Wisconsin. Small town America, front and centre of the
02:11race for the White House.
