00:48Obaidul Hassan was appointed to the helm of the Supreme Court last year and is seen as
00:52a loyalist to the ousted Prime Minister Sheikh Hasina.
00:56His departure follows the resignation on Friday of the Central Bank Governor Abdur
01:00Ruf Talukder, who resigned amid mounting pressure on top officials.
01:06The country's interim Prime Minister, the Nobel Peace Prize laureate Mohammed Yunus,
01:10called for calm and national unity.
01:13He did so during his visit to pay his respects to the family of the first student shot dead
01:17by police at the start of the crackdown on student protests.
01:21Yunus was sworn in on Thursday.
01:23The interim government includes two student protest leaders.
01:28Protests by students began in July against a quota system for government jobs that critics
01:33said benefited people with connections to Sheikh Hasina's party.
01:37After 15 years in power, she resigned and fled to India on Monday.
