00:14After attending the 1997 Ryder Cup hosted at Valderrama, his parents took up golf.
00:19John then followed in their footsteps, getting lessons when he was 6 or 7 years old and he
00:24developed a lot of his skill at the Centro Nacional de Golf in Madrid.
00:29From an early age, his father pushed him to move to the United States because he believed
00:32that's where the future of golf lay.
00:35As a result, he eventually attended Arizona State University where he collected 11 collegiate
00:40victories.
00:41This ranks second in the school's history behind Juan Phil Mickelson who had 16 wins.
00:46As a youngster, Rahm played a lot of sports, many of them involving either a racket or
00:51a paddle.
00:52One of them was pelota, a bass game that's a cross between high lie and racquetball.
00:56He also learned Kung Fu as a child to defend himself after getting into fights during class.
01:02Rahm's mental coach is Joseba Del Carmen, a man who has been a basketball player, a
01:06debt businessman, a professional golfer and a bomb technician.
01:10As a mental coach, he has worked with soccer and basketball teams, CEOs and business leaders.

01:17At the 2020 Masters, Rahm made two hole-in-ones in two days.
01:22In the practice rounds, he made one on the fourth hole and the next day, an ace came
01:26on the 16th after skipping the ball over the water.
01:29John Rahm is married to Kelly Cahill, a former javelin thrower at Arizona State University.
01:34They got married in Spain in December 2019 and they welcomed their first child, Kepa,
01:38in April 2021.
01:39In 2022, they announced they were expecting a second baby boy.
01:43Up until March 2022, Rahm held the record for being the number one ranked male amateur
01:48in the world for the longest period of time.
01:51Overall, he held that distinction for 60 weeks between 2015 and 2016.
01:55This has since been broken by Japanese star Keita Nakajima.
