00:00Welcome back everyone it's Charlie.
00:19So Dave Filoni and Jon Favreau came to D23 with the Mandalorian and Grogu trailer.
00:24They said they've been filming for a couple weeks.
00:26They had enough footage to put together an actual trailer.
00:28I had to travel the last couple days.
00:30So of course I got super super sick.
00:32So that's why it sounds like Grogu is forced choking me while I'm doing the breakdown for
00:36his movie trailer.
00:38There couple big surprises couple returning characters and I know the lot of questions
00:41about what's going on with Ahsoka season 2 what's happening with the Thrawn movie like
00:45how does this all feed into that stuff.
00:47So we'll break it all down just starting with the beginning of the trailer footage.
00:51So about the first 30 seconds of the trailer is just a recap of Mando and Grogu's relationship
00:55since the Mandalorian season one.
00:57If you remember the trailers for Mandalorian season 2 in the Mandalorian season 3 trailer
01:01it kind of played like that with a bit of a recap at the beginning of the trailers.
01:16We see their first meeting.
01:17We get that same voiceover from the armor saying you are a clan of two.
01:21We get a little footage right before he actually met Bo-Katan and her night owls the kind of
01:25intercutting footage from season one and season two like them drinking the soup together
01:29with him not taking his helmet off another lot of questions about that like he went through
01:33so much trouble to bathe in the waters of Mandalore is gonna take his helmet off during
01:38the actual movie my assumption there is that if he does take his helmet off in the movie
01:42it'll be a flashback like in present day he will keep his helmet on just because it went
01:46through so much trouble to put it back on we get a little more voiceover from him saying
01:51this youngling is my apprentice.
01:52This is a scene from season three with him pointing at the Mandalore planet more scenes
01:57from season one where he sort of explains who he is what he does.
02:00I'm a bounty hunter.
02:02He says now that he's with me I'll be more selective about the assignments that I take
02:06that we actually start to get the brand-new Mandalorian and Grogu movie trailer footage
02:10the assignment that he's being more selective about which they basically teed up at the
02:14end of season three.
02:15They imply during the trailer footage when the movie picks up he's gone back to regular
02:19bounty hunting work like he did during the Mandalorian season one.
02:22And most of the footage that we see with him on a planet is actually on ice planet.
02:27Now a lot of people were quoting this is Hoth, but it could be any ice planet.
02:31Not clear why is busting into this room there a bunch of administrators being protected
02:34by snow troopers big first for the Mandalorian series.
02:37We haven't seen snow troopers on the series before.
02:40No sign of Grogu in this scene, but he takes them out easily then real big surprise the
02:45razor crest is back and Zeb is flying it.
02:49So we saw Zeb during the Mandalorian season three.
02:51We knew he was a character inside the universe still can't ignore me face-to-face like your
02:56attitude most people remember him from Star Wars rebels.
03:01He didn't appear during the Ahsoka series, even though that was kind of like Ahsoka season
03:04five currently he's been acting as a pilot with the new Republic flying with Carson Teva
03:10and remember this is inside the cockpit of the razor crest.
03:13So my guess is that Zeb is dropping them off on this ice planet for whatever mission that
03:17he's on in the rest the trailer notice that Grogu isn't in a pouch.
03:21He just hang on to Mando's pauldron there on his shoulder.
03:25My guess is they just rebuilt the razor crest at some point or Mando rebuilt it somewhere.
03:30Maybe that's what he's been doing on Navarro in that new house of his like he's just been
03:33spending all that time since the end of season three rebuilding the razor crest that after
03:37Zeb wishes them good luck.
03:38We see the interior of this Imperial facility on the ice planet with all the snow troopers
03:42getting ready to fight them Mando walking down the hallway Grogu taking one of the shafts
03:46in just because he's so tiny early prediction Grogu sneaks in one of these tiny tunnels
03:51and then helps open a door for Mando to walk in.
03:54Then we actually get an Imperial mouse droid and we actually go to its perspective like
03:58the perspective the mouse droid is Mando is fighting all these different snow troopers
04:02in the hallways here is actually pretty cool visualization.
04:05Basically he's wrecking all them as you would expect.
04:08Then we get a funnier scene of Mando and Grogu breaking out of that Imperial facility on
04:12the ice planet using an AT-RT that's like a little personal walker where the city on
04:17the back here running into a bunch of full-size AT-AT walkers.
04:21Grogu's probably having the time of his life here.
04:23They flash the title card this will probably change this is probably just a temporary title
04:27card in the trailer even has its own little post credit scene with Grogu in a couple of
04:32the Anzelans from the Mandalorian season three on their ship it looks hilarious just because
04:37he's about the right size for the two of them in their tiny little ship notice the smile
04:41on his face like he's having the time of his life apparently at some time after the
04:45end of season three he in the Anzelans made nice that he isn't trying to squeeze him at
04:49every left turn now my assumption here is that Grogu is trying to help Mando and that's
04:53why he's getting the Anzelans help like you don't see Mando anywhere near here in a real
04:57big reminder the movies coming out May 2026.
05:00So like the big deal of the panel that Dave Filoni and Jon Favreau were talking about
05:04is that this is like the grand return of Star Wars to movie theaters.
05:08They didn't really say anything about the Thrawn movie because it's meant to be like
05:11a completely separate thing.
05:12I think the whole thing is because are trying to reinvigorate Star Wars inside movie theaters
05:16like get asses in seats.
05:18What the probably do is they'll just do another Mandalorian and Grogu movie like the just
05:22keep doing Mandalorian and Grogu movies as long as they're successful Dave Filoni is
05:27supposed to be directing the Thrawn movie originally I would have said that would've
05:30been like the second movie in this Mandalorian and Grogu trilogy like the just turn into
05:34its own little trilogy in this part of the timeline, but were not supposed to see the
05:38Thrawn movie till after Ahsoka season 2 in the Thrawn movie was when they said that everybody
05:43in this part of the timeline would cross over like the Ahsoka characters with the Mandalorian
05:47characters the skeleton crew characters I haven't done a trailer video for that yet,
05:51but there's a skeleton crew trailer with Jude Law who plays a Jedi character is meant to
05:55be very Spielberg Ian in a completely different part of the galaxy, but during this part of
05:59the timeline.
06:00So eventually it will cross over with the Mandalorian.
06:02They're also supposed to be shooting Ahsoka season 2 later this year.
06:06There's been all kinds of reports about what they're actually doing.
06:08So remember Ahsoka is stuck on the other planet in the other galaxy.
06:12The current report right now is they're going to recast Balen Skull because Ray Stevenson
06:16passed away RIP apparently his arc was going to be really important for the overall story
06:21leading up to the Thrawn movie.
06:22It wasn't just a small side story they could forget about and apparently it does involve
06:26him making it to Mortis in the overall threat there will involve the mother somehow Abeloth.
06:32So for those you that were thinking that Abeloth was going to be the villain of season 2.
06:36It sounds like that's going to be the case.
06:38This involved Dave Filoni bringing another legends character into main canon again.
06:42Just like the Thrawn character Dave Filoni is famous for doing stuff like that Thrawn
06:46is just like the biggest example that the whole story of her character is that she was
06:50a human woman who lived on Mortis with the Mortis gods and cared for the son and daughter
06:54like their mother.
06:55That's why she was called the mother, but unlike them.
06:58She was immortal.
06:59So she started to grow old.
07:00She wanted to stay with them.
07:02So one day trying to achieve the same immortality that they had she drank from a place called
07:06the font of power and bathed in a place called the pool of knowledge.
07:10Those were a nexus of dark side force energy and light side force energy that also gives
07:14you knowledge of all things from the past and the future.
07:17So you basically get the entire timeline downloaded in your mind.
07:20It's a little bit like you turning into Bran from game of thrones that process wound up
07:24driving her mad.
07:25She evolved into this twisted immortal and very powerful entity called Abeloth.
07:30She wound up being the villain of a bunch of fate of the Jedi legends books.
07:34Those were all the books involving Luke Skywalker's Jedi Academy.
07:37His son Ben Skywalker with Mara Jade, the Solo twins all the original legends main characters.
07:42So just like Dave Filoni has done with the series in the past when he canonizes a legends
07:47character or re-canonizes a legends character typically he just grabs the character and
07:51doesn't do everything associated with the character.
07:54They already canonized a lot of the Mortis stuff from clone wars.
07:56So Abeloth is just like the legends thing that they're throwing on top of that.
08:00He was kind of the same situation when he re-canonized Thrawn.
08:03Like first he just did Thrawn and a little bit of his legends backstory and then like
08:06slowly started to introduce more bits of his legends backstory.
08:10But for the most part all the Thrawn stuff that he did during rebels and in present day
08:14now is brand-new stuff is a pretty good chance they can get Ahsoka season two out by the
08:19end of 2025 because I think they want at least two Star Wars series next year and or season
08:25two being the other one.
08:27There was actually a trailer for that at D23.
08:29I'll try to do a video for it.
08:30If I do have time.
08:31If you couldn't tell I'm super sick right now I had to travel like the last couple days.
08:35So of course I'm super sick, but because the Mandalorian and Grogu movie is coming out
08:39May 2026.
08:40I think the idea is that they want Ahsoka season two to happen right before that, which
08:44is why I'm not expecting Ahsoka to appear during the Mandalorian and Grogu movie.
08:49Maybe some of the Ahsoka characters that are inside the main galaxy, but not Ahsoka herself.
08:54For those you asking I do think that Hayden Christensen is supposed to come back during
08:58Ahsoka season two and the way they teed him up at the end of season one like oh yeah force
09:02ghost Anakin in present-day probably gonna come back and talk to Ahsoka as a force ghost
09:07at some point the other funny thing that Rosario Dawson said in real life when she was asked
09:12about Hayden Christensen coming back like they been doing a lot of comic-con panels
09:15together at different conventions recently.
09:18She said on her ship.
09:19She has a bunch more of those hollow discs with recordings of Anakin back during the
09:24clone wars when she was younger giving her lessons will probably get at least one more
09:29of those types of Anakin cameos during season two.
09:32So like a couple different ways that they cameo him him is a force ghost in present-day
09:36recordings of him in the past and I do think that he will be a bigger part of this whole
09:41plot that's going on with the mortis gods I've already talked about my theory that he
09:45sort of replacing the role of the mortis gods like Anakin is becoming a god in the force
09:50so to speak.
09:51We got into this during my Ahsoka season two episode videos.
09:55But if you didn't watch the original clone wars star wars episodes the mortis gods basically
10:00told him this was his eventual destiny was to become like them.
10:05I am dying and you must replace me.
10:09So basically Dave Filoni way back then was calling his shot Babe Ruth style that Anakin
10:14would eventually become a god in the force because are not gonna start shooting season
10:18two till later this year at least I don't expect to see any kind of Ahsoka season two
10:22teaser footage or anything like that till around the time and or season two premieres
10:27next year.
