00:07Elizabeth Tudor, was crowned in Westminster Abbey. Elizabeth was the daughter of King Henry VIII
00:13and his second wife, Anne Boleyn, and she was born into a time of great political
00:17and religious upheaval in England. When she was just two years old,
00:21her mother was executed by her father on charges of adultery, incest and treason.
00:27Elizabeth was declared illegitimate and was removed from the line of succession to the throne.
00:32However, she eventually inherited the throne in 1558 following the death of her half-sister,
00:37Queen Mary I. Elizabeth was a skilled and popular ruler, who is remembered for her intelligence,
00:43charisma and political savvy. During her reign, she oversaw a period of stability
00:49and prosperity in England and is still remembered as one of the country's greatest monarchs.
