00:13to give enough funds to other sports programs in the country.

00:22That's the main sport that doesn't need to be close to the hearts of Filipinos

00:26and is usually won by the left and right sponsorships from the public and private sectors.

00:35the Filipino gymnast Carlos Yulo won two gold medals in the Philippines

00:41and two bronze medals from the Filipino women's boxing team members Desti Petesio and Ira Villegas.

00:50if this is a good move to give enough funds to other sports programs in the country

01:12I think we have good potentials in many sports that should be given attention.

01:18For instance, rowing.

01:20It's the first time we qualified for the quarterfinals in a rowing event.

01:24The first Filipino rower in the history of the Philippines is Joani Delgaco.

01:29And then she finished top 20 in the world.

01:32She finished number one in Southeast Asia.

01:34She finished number two in Asia.

01:36A basketball sport that continues to give glory to the country,

01:41is the gold medal finish of the Gilas Pilipinas Men's Basketball Team

01:44in the 2022 Asian Games and 2023 Southeast Asian Games.

01:49Henson explained the reason

01:51why basketball is getting more support than other sports.

01:56Remember, basketball generates a lot of support

02:01or a big portion of the support

02:03because there are 12 players in a team.

02:05Rowing is just one.

02:07Swimming is just two.

02:09So, for individual sports,

02:11you won't be needing as big a budget as basketball

02:15because those are individual sports.

02:17So, I think there's room for everybody.

02:21There's room for all these sports

02:23that can give us a lot of enjoyment and entertainment being fans

02:28and also giving an opportunity for athletes to excel on the international stage.

02:33In the past 100 years of participation of Filipino athletes in the Olympics,

02:37the Philippines has won a total of 18 medals,

02:40including 3 gold, 5 silver, and 10 bronze medals.
