00:00Mystery, suspense, unexpected twist.
00:03If you're a fan of movies that keep you on the edge of your seat, then you will love
00:07today's list.
00:08Welcome back everyone, Matthew here with CineGold and today we're going to take a look at the
00:12top 10 thriller movies on Netflix right now.
00:15Let's begin the countdown by taking a look at number 10.
00:28Number 10, Calibur.
00:30It follows two good friends on a hunting trip in the Scottish Highlands where things take
00:34a dark turn when a tragic accident forces them into a difficult decision and pits them
00:39against the small community.
00:41Calibur has a rather simple premise, but two people in a horrendous situation and then
00:46follow them through each unbearable moment that comes after.
00:49This film is all about overwhelming tension and has enough tricks up its sleeve to keep
00:54things from getting predictable.
00:55Gorgeous yet somewhat creepy settings, solid acting across the board, and a dark, haunting
01:00score.
01:11Number 9, Unlocked.
01:12It follows a girl who accidentally loses her phone but luckily has it returned by a young
01:17man.
01:18But little does she know that the young man actually installed spyware on her phone and
01:23is now tracking her everyday life.
01:25If you're the type of person that is very paranoid about cyber security or the opposite
01:29and don't take it seriously at all, you might think about giving this movie a shot.
01:34It will definitely make you think twice about leaving your phone out of sight.
01:37It comes from Korea who has been producing some of the best thrillers over the last few
01:41years and Unlocked is yet another solid entry that is both unpredictable and very creepy.
01:53Number 8, The Killer.
01:56An assassin botches a sniper hit setting off a chain reaction that sends him across the
02:01globe to confront past associates and face the moral complexities of his profession.
02:06The Killer comes from Fight Club and Gone Girl director David Fincher and is a noir
02:12action thriller that is based on a French graphic novel.
02:15Michael Fassbender is great as the cold-blooded killer and if you're a fan of Fincher you
02:19will find this movie has a lot of his characteristic style.
02:23If you're down for a cool thriller from one of the best directors around, you definitely
02:27want to check out The Killer.
02:37Number 7, Gerald's Game.
02:39A wife and husband decide to spice up their marriage with a secluded getaway.
02:44When the husband unexpectedly dies with the wife still handcuffed to the bed, she must
02:48confront her inner demons and find a way to survive.
02:52Gerald's Game is based on a Stephen King novel and directed by Mike Flanagan who's directed
02:57numerous horror hits such as The Haunting of Hill House and Dr. Sleep.
03:01This film is a psychological horror thriller that turns a simple premise into a gripping
03:07and thought-provoking exploration of trauma and survival.
03:10This was one of Flanagan's first big movies and a solid choice for thriller and horror
03:15fans.
03:27Number 6, The Hater.
03:28It follows Tomasz, an expelled law student who now writes fake news in online hatred
03:34in order to disgrace famous people and politicians.
03:37Tomasz is kind of your prototypical online troll who's angry at the world because it
03:42finds him creepy and deceitful.
03:44It certainly has a lot to say about society, but the main reason thriller fans will want
03:49to check it out is because of the complex web of lies and deceit he builds up that seems
03:54at any moment ready to either crumble or explode.
03:57This Polish-made thriller is entertaining from beginning to end and one of the better
04:01Netflix original thrillers.
04:03Real quick, I want to give a big shout out to a few people who never miss a video and
04:08always take the time to give me their thoughts.
04:10Lorian Kay, Alan Metters, and Catfish S. Thanks so much to all of you.
04:16And now onto number 5.
04:29Number 5, I Don't Feel At Home In This World Anymore.
04:33After her house is robbed, a woman who feels pushed around and ignored decides to take
04:38justice into her own hands.
04:40I Don't Feel At Home In This World Anymore is a blend of dark comedy and crime thriller
04:45and is definitely one of the quirkier films on this list.
04:48Its opening act is hilarious, but the film starts to get downright violent and shocking
04:53the further it goes.
04:54It gets very tense and the tension builds and builds and releases in a pretty epic third
04:59act.
05:00From comedy to serious thriller might not be to everyone's taste, but I think most thriller
05:05fans are really going to enjoy it.
05:15Number 4, The Stranger.
05:17This film follows an undercover police officer as he tries to build a friendship and gain
05:22the trust of the prime suspect in a child abduction case.
05:26The Stranger is a fascinating crime thriller that's based on true events.
05:30It's pretty far from your everyday thriller and that's part of what makes it such a solid
05:34watch.
05:35It's a lot more of a slow burn, but it's very much worth sticking with.
05:39It's also dark and atmospheric and seems to be on a totally different wavelength from
05:43your typical crime thriller.
05:45If you're looking for something unique that may not be to everyone's taste, but has a
05:48high ceiling, make sure to check out The Stranger.
06:00Number 3, The Platform.
06:03Prisoners in a vertical dystopian prison are fed by a descending platform that holds a
06:08grand feast, but as the platform lowers through the levels, the food is eaten, leaving less
06:14and less for each level.
06:16This of course causes tensions to rise between the different levels and alliances start to
06:20form in the struggle to survive.
06:23This is a none too subtle allegory about social inequality, but really it's the simple but
06:28brilliant premise that makes this movie so fun to watch.
06:31It's got horror and sci-fi elements as well, but this to me should almost be considered
06:36required viewing for thriller fans.
06:45Number 2, Forgotten.
06:46A young man's brother is kidnapped and later returned, but now the brother seems changed,
06:52perhaps even a different person.
06:53Forgotten is one of my favorite thrillers on Netflix, and the reason is because it is
06:58impossible to see where it's going next.
07:00There's not one dull second in the whole thing, and it's got a very heavy layer of mystery
07:05and twist galore.
07:06If you want a good comparison, think of something along the lines of Parasite or Oldboy.
07:11It's definitely just as nuts and enjoyable as both of them.
07:14You could perhaps argue that this movie is a bit too crazy, but I think the average thriller
07:19fan is really going to love it.
07:25Number 1, Uncut Gems.
07:28A jeweler with a soft spot for high stakes gambling makes a huge bet that could cost
07:33him more than he bargained for.
07:34Uncut Gems is a crime thriller starring Adam Sandler that is pumped full of so much nervous
07:40energy that it will leave you feeling exhilarated.
07:43Sandler proves his dramatic acting chops once again along with a great supporting cast that
07:48deliver solid performances all around.
07:50If you enjoy the type of thriller movie that will cause you to bite your nails and be glued
07:55to your seat, go ahead and check out Uncut Gems.
