00:00The property letter system was flawed and open for abuse. It needed to change
00:04or not exist at all. However, the changes introduced in the
00:08new Firearms Act are more vulnerable to abuse and manipulation. These changes
00:12rely on the numbers and types of animals that need to be managed as reported by a
00:16department that is under constant pressure, understaffed and undersupported.
00:20This system is supposed to support an industry, agriculture, but the Labor
00:25Government seems intent on dismantling the agricultural industry. That's why we,
00:30the Shooters, Fishers and Farmers Party of West Australia, will introduce a bill
00:34to allow hunting on public lands through a permit and tag system, much like other
00:38states. Additionally, we will advocate for club support to extend to these
00:42hunting practices, because what really matters is that you're a part of a
00:46supportive community that prioritises safety, fosters conservation and
00:50connection to the land.
00:56The new Firearms Act reform is more than just a change in regulations. It's a shift that can
01:00undermine the relationship between producers and conservation hunters.
01:05The reliance on a pressured and underfunded department to report on animal
01:08management is not only flawed, but dangerous to our biosecurity. This Labor
01:13Government seems focused on dismantling the agricultural industry rather than
01:17supporting it. That's why the Shooters, Fishers and Farmers Party of WA is
01:21taking action. We are pushing for a system that empowers producers and
01:25conservation hunters, not one that divides them. A bill for hunting on
01:29public lands and extending club support to these practices is our next step in
01:33protecting our land and our way of life. Join me and the Shooters, Fishers and Farmers
01:38Party in fighting against these overreachers.
