In an interview with Elon Musk on X Monday night, former President Donald Trump recounted his assassination attempt and discussed top issues like illegal immigration and his plans to cut government regulations. The chat lasted over two hours after listeners dealt with widespread tech delays at the start. Musk claimed a distributed denial-of-service attack was to blame. At times, the X Spaces forum had 1 million people listening. Vice President Kamala Harris's campaign reacted, saying in a statement that Donald Trump's "extremism and dangerous Project 2025 agenda was on fully display for those unlucky enough to listen in tonight during whatever that was on X.com.

00:00And welcome back here to live now from Fox. I'm Andrew Kraft 830 here on the West Coast
00:051130 there on the East Coast. I want to put this up here as we were continuing to cover the
00:10Donald Trump Elon Musk one-on-one conversation
00:14Stephen Shung tweeting out that photo of Trump participating in the X space with Musk saying two hours
00:20The conversation is still going strong between Trump and Musk. So the conversation lasting well over two hours
00:28Recounting the experience of the assassination attempt to must talking about the issues like
00:36Immigration and the economy foreign policy Russia and North Korea and and so much more
00:42We do want to hear from our Fox News correspondent friend Connor Hanson with a wrap-up of the interview
00:48Of course
00:48We brought you the news that it was plagued by tech issues for about the first 30 35 minutes or so
00:54And then it got underway. Let's listen to Connor Hanson for more
01:03People trying to watch a conversation on X between former President Trump and its billionaires CEO
01:09Were met with errors at its 8 p.m. Start time
01:13Elon Musk says there was a massive cyber attack and data issues
01:17The conversation was eventually streamed to a smaller live audience as this
01:23This massive attack illustrates there's a lot of opposition to people just hearing
01:30What President Trump has to say the pair immediately diving into Trump's near assassination?
01:36So that was the miracle that was yeah for those that don't believe in God. I'm a believer now
01:41I'm more of a believer
01:42The planned unscripted conversation was heavily promoted by both Trump and Musk as Trump tries to pull back momentum
01:49from Democrats ahead of their convention
01:51Trump posted a series of campaign videos on his ex account leading up to the live stream. We have a defective government
01:59These are defective people and they're not people that should be running it
02:02The live stream already drew scrutiny before it aired the EU's digital commissioner sent Musk a letter warning against any quote
02:11amplification of harmful content and the Harris Walz campaign said Trump is taking his quote
02:17Backward agenda of hate and division to a Twitter conversation with fellow extremist Elon Musk
02:24While former president Trump has done most of his social media posting on his own
02:29Platform truth social his campaign says we can expect to see more of him on other streams and podcasts in
02:36New York Connor Hanson Fox News
02:41Honor thanks so much
02:43Well, as you know, we're about to let you listen into some of these
02:46moments from the interview and Trump went on at length recounting his experience of
02:52Almost being shot to death on live television there at the campaign rally in Butler, Pennsylvania
02:58Well the one-month mark since that rally since that shooting will be tomorrow and here on live now
03:04We'll have extensive coverage talking about where these investigations
03:08into the shooting and the shootings response
03:11Stand remember that the House bipartisan task force looking into the shooting they have
03:19Formed they have met that they have made their first steps today in their probe with letters to both the DHS
03:25The Department of Justice the FBI and the Secret Service. You can join us tomorrow for the one-month anniversary of the Trump shooting
03:32but here is
03:33Trump recounting his experience to Musk. Let's watch
03:37One of the miracles was that nobody ran
03:39I mean if a gun goes off the crowd control people
03:43Showed that showed us this when guns go off and it does happen in stadiums at a soccer match or some kind of a match
03:50Everybody flees they call it a stampede like cattle, but everybody and a lot of people get killed with those stampedes
03:56We had more people than you'd have it. You know, some of these matches or these games and
04:02Nobody left, you know
04:04you had a small group behind us in the grandstand and that was full and
04:09You look at it as it was taking place and normally they'd be running
04:14they didn't leave they saw that I was hurt they saw a lot of blood and they saw that I went down and
04:20It's almost like they wanted to be with me
04:22Well out front you had thousands tens of thousands of people you as far as the eye could see you had people in Butler
04:29As far as the eye could see and a lot of press to it was, you know, many cameras on watching this
04:35It's what made makes it so different because normally things happen that aren't good, but you never have a picture of it here
04:42We have all these cameras shooting it. So, you know sort of amazing, but one of the
04:48Interesting things was that you didn't have anybody flee. You didn't have anybody stampede
04:52Nobody and there were some people behind me
04:55Nobody and there was some people behind me they stood up and they're looking like, you know
04:59I mean I say you want to have you want to have them in a foxhole with you
05:03I want to meet some of those people. All right, that was one of the really extensive
05:08at length
05:10Discussions and descriptions Trump has made of that experience on Saturday, July 13th in Butler, Pennsylvania
05:18And so we want to show you this next clip. Let you listen Trump recounting to Musk
05:24Why he wanted to show the crowd that he was okay. Let's listen
05:30You know
05:31What I find honorable there was that you can't fake bravery under such circumstances
05:36The courage is instinctual or it is not it's not a rehearsed action
05:39and so I just want to say that I think a lot of people admire your courage under fire there and
05:45Yeah, so thank you very much. I appreciate it. I didn't I don't think I didn't think of it
05:50I just want to get up and I want to stand up
05:53I want to let people know, you know
05:54I felt I was good when when they were on top of me covering me actually very much covering me and very bravely
06:02but I wanted to get up I said I want to get up and
06:06They wanted you know, they had they have everything there they have they wanted to stretch you
06:11I didn't like this stretcher and I knew I was hit in the ear, but I knew I wasn't hit anywhere else
06:15They felt I was hit someplace else
06:17It was such a lot of blood and they were sure that I was hit someplace else and they were saying sir
06:23What you you you were hitting more than the year. I said, nope. I was hit in the year
06:27I want to get up. Let me get up. And so we I got up and
06:32The crowd didn't know what to think. I mean, this was so
06:35So many people and they did you could see they were confused. They didn't know what to think and
06:40I wanted to let them know I was okay
06:42It was very important for me to let them know that and they went wild you you've seen the after they didn't go wild when
06:50I got up because they didn't know was I alive you really couldn't tell when I stood up
06:55Before the hand before the you know the fist in the air
07:00They didn't know if I was alive
07:02nobody did and
07:04when I put the fist up they were they were just
07:08Relieved and happy and thrilled and the place went crazy
07:13It was pretty amazing. It was a it was a terrible thing, but it was
07:18probably moving
07:20So there you hear Donald Trump
07:23Saying something I don't think we've heard him say that that Secret Service agents thought he may have been shot multiple times
07:28Not just in the air there
07:31But also we have heard from Trump
07:33Untrue social a couple of weeks back saying that he wants to go back to Butler, Pennsylvania
07:38And hold yet another campaign rally on the very site of the assassination attempt and he explains to us why let's listen
07:47What we what were you about to say about illegal immigration before you were rudely interrupted?
07:51well, I was going to say how good the numbers were by the way, we're going back to Butler and
07:57We're gonna go back in October. We're all set up and we're the people are fantastic in Butler
08:02It's a big it's a great area great. These are incredible people
08:07like the three that in the case of Corey killed and the other two the the families are I got to know him a little
08:12bit and the families are great, but we're going back to Butler and
08:17I think I'll probably start by saying as I was saying
08:24So horribly interrupted, yeah, but yeah, so really interrupted by
08:29Yeah
08:31All right, so some news made there that Trump has picked somewhat of a date for when that might occur sometime in October
08:40Musk and Trump also got into some of the issues as well. You've heard Trump mentioned many times in his campaign stump speech
08:46his desire for the United States to have their own iron dome defense system much like Israel has to
08:54Thwart and ward off attacks. He explained this idea to Musk. Let's watch. I
09:01think people under underrate the risk of World War three and it's just
09:06you know when looking at the risk of global thermonuclear warfare, it's game over for humanity and
09:12You know, that's it's something that people have I think after the end of the Cold War people have become complacent about but they're
09:19actually have forgotten that there are
09:21Currently a lot of nuclear missiles that that occur that that have targeting parameters for the United States
09:28And one of the things we're gonna do is we're gonna build an iron dome over us. Well, you know Israel has it
09:34We're gonna have the best iron dome in the world
09:36We need it and we're gonna make it all in the United States
09:38But we're gonna have we're gonna have protection because it just takes one maniac, you know start something
09:44We're gonna have protection and we're gonna have why shouldn't we have an iron dome Israel has one
09:48Some other places you have one that nobody even knows about frankly, but Israel has it we're gonna have an iron dome
09:55All right, and of course live picture there in Israel right now. Of course, the United States is a major
10:01subsidiary of
10:03That iron dome system as well. We've reported on that extensively also Musk
10:09And Trump have been talking in this interview about the issue of the crisis at the southern border
10:15Illegal and legal immigration they got into it in this interview. Let's listen
10:21There's never been a country in history that has had a catastrophe like this
10:26We've had I believe and I think you believe this too, you know, you hear 12 million third
10:30I believe it's over 20 million people came into our country many coming from jails from prisons from
10:38from mental institutions or a bigger version of that is insane asylums and
10:44Many are terrorists and I'll tell you what they're coming not just from South America. They're coming from Africa
10:49They're coming from all over the world. They're coming from Asia
10:52They're coming from the Middle East. They're coming from countries that are
10:59Stupidly and horribly
11:01Bombing Israel October 7th. They're coming from all over the world
11:05They could and you know, you look at it's so sad October 7th because it should have never happened
11:10It's so sad when you look at Ukraine, it should have never happened. We have a defective government
11:15These are defective people and they're not people that should be running it
11:19but where you see it the best is the border because you had you have millions of people coming in a month and
11:26Then she gets up and she tries to pretend like she's gonna do something
11:31She had three and a half years and by the way, they have another five months that they can do something
11:37It's all talk he's incompetent and he's incompetent and frankly
11:41I think that he's more incompetent than he is and that's saying something because he's not too good
11:46All right
11:47So I just wanted to show you those five clips let you listen to them of the interview between Trump and Musk it lasted over
11:54Two hours in that clip though on immigration. You heard him go after both Biden and Harris. Well the Harris campaign
12:02Responding to this interview today in a statement. They say this
12:06They say our statement on whatever that was
12:08They say Donald Trump's extremism and dangerous project 2025 agenda is a feature
12:14Not a glitch of his campaign which was on full display
12:18For those unlucky enough to listen and deny during whatever that was on XCOM
12:24Trump's entire campaign is in service of people like Elon Musk and himself
12:28Self-obsessed rich guys who will sell out the middle class and who cannot run a live stream in the year
12:352024 of course that reference to the
12:38Pretty big delay in the start to the interview
12:42Elon Musk alleging that there was some type of cyber attack or intrusion by outside actors
12:49as well
12:50So I thought that was
12:52Particularly interesting, of course, we saw the same thing happen and unfold when Florida governor Ron DeSantis
12:59Was announcing his launch for the presidency
13:03Back in February of 2023 same tech delays as well here
