00:00Before we head out for a hike, I spot something the previous homeowner planted in Rajuda and
00:07Rahul's yard.
00:08God, this is garbage, man.
00:09This is an invasive Miscanthus.
00:10It's what we call a trash plant, the horticultural atrocity.
00:18It evolved 9,000 miles away.
00:19It would be much better to have, you know, some swamp milkweed or a eupatorium in its
00:26place.
00:27So we're just going to go ahead and take this out for him.
00:29I went rogue and I just dug this out and held it like a decapitated head of my enemies
00:35and threw it in a pile off to the side.
00:38I'll put that over there.
00:40The work we did here today was very important.
00:43Ripped out the horrible variegated Miscanthus and the Japanese Ilex and the English ivy.
00:49Then I went and did this myself.
00:50I call Joey an unexpected nature catalyst.
00:53Right.
00:55I was the disturbance event that came and enabled future diversity.
01:00Disturbance enables diversity.
01:01That's kind of what happened here.
