As business professionals and humans, we always have the urge to help someone, and that’s never a bad thing. However, there’s a reason why on planes, they tell you to put on your own mask first before helping someone else.

00:00When you board a plane, you take your seat and a stewardess just before taxiing, they go through a bunch of safety features.
00:10One of them is if a mask comes down, make sure you put your mask on first before you help anybody else.
00:17Now there's obviously a reason for that because if you can't breathe, there's no way you're going to be able to help anyone else.
00:22So make sure you put your mask on first before you help someone else.
00:26Now, that's not too dissimilar in business to your business in the sense that if you haven't got your system organized, how can you a communicate?
00:40How can you share files?
00:42How can you do anything with your client and for your client to have a good user experience?
00:48There just isn't anything there.
00:50So I always tell people make sure that your system is set up correctly because then you can stop worrying about the technology and stop worrying.
01:00So you can breathe basically, you know, once you put your mask on and then help your client without having the obstacles in the way of you doing the work and you helping your clients.
01:10So if you don't put your mask on first, if you don't have your tech organized as well as it should be, i.e. your emails, your communication between your clients, the software that you're using, etc.
01:24Then the user experience for your client isn't that well.
01:27So that means that you're not helping your client to the best of your abilities because your abilities have been taken away and your focus is on fighting with your tech rather than helping your clients.
