00:00Well, this chemical is being described as a potentially serious health risk for people

00:15in the map.
00:16This particular compound, this sodium cyanide, it can cause things like headaches, nausea,
00:25dizziness, changes in heart rate, loss of consciousness, and if it gets really serious
00:30you're talking about vomiting, people in comas with breathing problems.
00:34There have been dead fish spotted in the waterways as a result of this cyanide in the water.
00:43The Environment Agency are testing for it at the moment, and there are also the police,
00:47the fire service, 7th Trent Water, they're all, all these agencies are coming together
00:52trying to get to the bottom of what happened here.
00:55There are around 500 miles worth of canals up and down the West Midlands, so any problem
01:03in any of the waterways there is a sense that these things can spread very quickly, so what
01:08they're trying to do is to contain this problem and make sure that it doesn't spread any further.
