00:05after seeing him doing tumbles and cartwheels on the street, and which was nurtured thereafter

00:10by schoolteacher-slash-coach Ezra Canlas.

00:13A journey filled with dreams of making it to big-time competitions and predicated on

00:18dedication and years of hard work that led to competition at city meets, the National

00:24Games or Palarong Pabansa, his training with Japanese gymnast coach Munihiro Kugimiya,

00:30and culminating in his double-gold victory in Paris.

00:38There is no denying that Filipino pride two-time Olympic gold medalist Carlos Yulo has come

00:43a long way because his name is now indelibly etched in the field of sports, especially

00:48in artistic gymnastics.

00:50But how did the career of our golden boy begin?

00:53From a simple child from Leveriza in Malate, Manila, Carlos' high aspirations were his

00:58capital to move forward in life.

01:01His teacher-coach Ezra tells the story that even as a child, Caloy showed potential in

01:05gymnastics.

01:06That's why it was a big deal that at a young age, young Carlos was so focused on improving

01:12and developing his raw talent.

01:14His grandfather, Mamboy, was the one who discovered Caloy's talent because there were a lot of

01:22gymnasts in Leveriza, so he was encouraged to do tumbling.

01:28So instead of doing tumbling on the street, Mamboy brought him to gymnastics.

01:35Despite his talent, Yulo remained grounded and disciplined.

01:39That's why it's inevitable that from city meets to the Palarong Pambansa, Carlos always

01:43brought home medals.

02:05Because of his skills and determination, sports coaches began to notice Yulo until he reached

02:10the world stage and won not just one, but two gold medals in the recently concluded

02:152024 Paris Olympics.

02:18But according to Ezra, financial challenges were also part of Yulo's journey to success.

02:23But such obstacles did not stop Carlos from pursuing his dreams.

02:40That's why teacher Ezra could not be any prouder of Carlos' success, especially since she was

03:05part of Yulo's journey to winning gold.
