01:37as Ukrainian forces continue to attack there.
01:42The Russian defence ministry claims its army units have stopped Ukrainian forces from moving
01:48deeper into Russia, as President Putin claims the incursion is an attempt by Kiev to stop
01:54Moscow's offensive in the Donbas region and gain leverage in possible future peace talks.
02:02But a Ukrainian foreign ministry spokesperson said the cross-border operation was aimed
02:07at protecting Ukrainian land from long-range strikes launched from Kursk.

04:56Thousands gathered on Tuesday at an anti-government rally called by two of Slovakia's opposition parties to protest against actions taken by the government of Prime Minister Robert Fico.
05:25Slovakia's opposition says that dismay with the government of Robert Fico has reached a boiling point and that the European Union needs to remain vigilant of the government's reforms.
05:38In recent days, thousands of Slovaks have taken to the streets to denounce government decisions they say undermine freedoms and the rule of law.
05:47They include the dismissal of the heads of the National Theatre and Gallery by hard-right Culture Minister Martina Simkoviฤovรก and the dismantling of the National Crime Agency, moves opponents say are symptoms of a broader crackdown.
06:03We've heard also from the mouth of the Prime Minister is that he is calling liberalism, progressivism, a cancer quote-unquote.
06:12So clearly there is a frontal attack on freedom, freedom of expression, arts, culture and especially rule of law which is very much a concern for the European Commission.
06:24Since returning to power last October, Prime Minister Fico has sparked outcry for overhauling the country's criminal code and dissolving the Special Prosecutor's Office, prompting mass protests over the winter.
06:38He is also expected to disband the National Crime Agency, which was handling high-profile corruption cases in which he himself was involved.
06:47Last week, Fico's Justice Minister also brokered the release from prison of a former special prosecutor convicted on charges of corruption and bribery.
06:57Brussels has taken no action yet.
06:59The European Commission so far has been very careful not to draw a line of attack on the government and that has been made much more difficult for the Commission because of the recent assassination attempt on Mr Fico himself.
07:17So they had to draw a very careful line between criticising, legitimately criticising the actions of the government that stand at odds with some of the fundamental principles of the EU, especially the rule of law, but on the other hand not giving in to the hatred against Mr Fico himself.
07:35The Commission reprimanded Slovakia for backsliding on the rule of law and media freedoms in July.
07:42In the past, it has withheld EU funds from member countries such as Hungary for similar violations.
07:51Police authorities in Denmark say facial recognition technology will be used in dealing with gang-related violence in the country.
07:59The announcement came at a meeting between Denmark's National Police Commissioner and Justice Minister.
08:05It follows the recent increases in violent crimes in Copenhagen that involved gangs from neighbouring Sweden.
08:35Some parties have vowed to oppose the technology on principle.
09:05In Fiumicino, a stretch of coastline an hour's drive away from Rome, beach concessions and the lack of a national law that regulates them as required by the EU are the main talking points among local beach establishments.
09:18But as opposed to calling a strike as others have done, around 10 local business owners have teamed up in the event of public tenders that could soon stripe them off their licences.
09:29It's been over 10 years that Italy has failed to comply with the EU directive which aims to promote competitiveness in the sector by freeing up the market.
09:37And with concessions expiring at the end of the year, time is running out.
09:58Some trade organisations have trust in the government's efforts to settle the dispute.
10:28Beach club operators are divided over how to navigate the issue.
10:48Meanwhile, discussions between Italy and the European Commission are still ongoing.
10:52We asked an expert to break down such complex scenario and its potential consequences.
10:57Eleonora Poli works for a think tank that focuses on EU policies and has covered the issue.
11:27With a few months left before the year draws to a close, beach club operators are expected to continue their fight.
