00:00Elden Ring keepsakes are a key part of character creation that give your tarnished hero a small
00:10boost from a little magical item you can pick at the start. They all do different things,
00:14so your choice can affect how you'll progress with some kind of passive buff, special ability
00:18or benefit. But what are the best options, and do you even need one? Well, yes, you need
00:22all the help you can get here, this is a FromSoftware game we're talking about, so we highly recommend
00:26you pick one as they have no drawbacks, it's free help. However, some of these keepsakes
00:31can also be found in the lands between as you explore, or can be bought later from merchants,
00:35so this isn't your only chance to get one, which obviously might change your choices.
00:40So let's take a look at what's on offer and what's worth picking.
00:43Crimson Amber Medallion This medallion gives you a bump to your maximum
00:46health and that is always useful, regardless of your skill level and class. It's basically
00:50a must-pick for beginners and particularly good for classes with low vigor stats and
00:54therefore lower starting health. Golden Seed This is a consumable item you can
00:58use at the site of grace to give yourself an extra use of your healing sacred flask,
01:03and effectively start the game with 5 flask uses instead of 4. It's another keepsake that's
01:08useful for all players and it's definitely a good choice for a beginner player who might
01:11benefit from being able to heal more. However, it is a resource you can find freely in the
01:16world, so this isn't your only chance to get one.
01:18Lands Between Rune Runes are your XP currency and this consumable
01:22item will give you a decent number of runes right at the start. Once you're able to level
01:26up, this can fast-track any character builds you might have in mind with a few extra free
01:30levels. Fanged Imp Ashes This is a free Elden Ring spirit ash which
01:34lets you summon NPCs to fight by your side, in this case a couple of imps. This can be
01:38used as many times as you like, but can only be used once you've got the spirit calling
01:42bell item, so you won't be able to use it right away.
01:45Cracked Pot You can get two cracked pots right off the
01:47bat if you choose them for your starting keepsake. These pots are used in the crafting of throwable
01:51bombs and never break, so you just have to keep filling them with ingredients to have
01:54a constant supply of explosives. Stoneswood Key These stone keys can be used
01:59in certain locks to break seals that hide away treasure and more. The keys break once
02:03they've been used, but you can find more out in the world once you're exploring.
02:06Bewitching Branch This will give you five consumable branches
02:09that release a short-range pink fog that can charm enemies. Any enemies in this fog will
02:14stop attacking you, sheathe their weapons if they have any, and go on with their day.
02:18Spoiled Prawn This gives you five bits of prawn meat you
02:21can consume to temporarily boost your physical damage resistance, meaning you'll take less
02:25damage from physical weapon attacks while a prawn's buff is active.
02:28Shabriri's Woe This gross head constantly attracts the aggression
02:32of enemies in Elden Ring. We really don't know why you would want this keepsake as it's
02:36basically asking for trouble in a world that wants you dead anyway.
02:39So that is a look at all the keepsakes in Elden Ring and any we recommend picking. If
02:44you need any more help with the game, don't forget to like and subscribe to GamesRadar.
