Orsted speak on visual impact of Isle of Man windfarm plans
Transcript
00:00What can people in simple terms expect to see as part of this development?
00:06Yeah, so we've done a lot of work to model the visual impact.
00:10As John explained earlier, we've looked at what's the maximum design that we could have.
00:16It's maximum 100 turbines and there's a maximum turbine height that we are proposing in our application.
00:24So we've modelled that and we've done some pretty comprehensive visuals,
00:30which if you've been along to the community consultations you'll have seen.
00:36I think they're available online as well.
00:38Harder perhaps to see, but very much available for people to see.
00:42So you can see what it's likely to look like and I think, just to reassure people,
00:47we've done these visual models before and of course we can now go back with our photographs
00:52and stand on the beach and say, well does it really look like what we thought?
00:56And actually it does.
00:57And so we've refined our techniques and I think it's fair to say within the uncertainties that we have,
01:02I think they're pretty accurate representation of the visual impact.
01:06And of course people are fully entitled and I think absolutely understandable people will raise these concerns.
01:12I'd urge people to have a look and see what the reality is likely to be.
01:16We're not saying there isn't a visual impact, of course there is.
01:20And that's why we're running the consultation, because we want to hear people's opinions
01:24and hear how they're feeling about this.
01:27So you'd encourage people to come along and have a look themselves really at,
01:32either online or to one of these engagement days before possibly forming an opinion on it?
01:38Yeah, absolutely.
01:39And then please give us feedback.
01:41We really do need to hear from everybody.
01:44We can capture all of that, we can provide responses in our consultation response.
01:49And that means we're in the best possible place to move forward in a way that reflects the voices that we've heard.
