00:00So, we now have the lowdown, the poop, if you will, on...
00:04It ends with us.
00:05It ends with us, the feud between Blake Lively and Justin Baldoni.
00:11Our co-star and the director of the film, and everyone involved in this film has said
00:16there is a very nasty feud between them, but no one was saying what it was.
00:21We now know what it was.
00:23Well, there are two main things.
00:25One, that during the shooting, Justin went to the trainer who was on set, by the way,
00:33a trainer for both him and Blake, and said, I have an upcoming scene where I have to pick
00:39Blake up, and I have back problems.
00:43He's had herniated discs.
00:44He's had all sorts of problems, and he said, how much does she weigh, and how do I protect
00:49myself so I don't re-injure my back?
00:52The trainer then went to Blake, and the way it was put to her, it seems, was, he's kind
00:59of fat-shaming you and asking you about your weight.
01:02He wanted to know how much you weigh.
01:04And then she's thinking, oh my God, I mean, I had a kid.
01:07About four or five months before that scene was being shot, so...
01:11And so the way she's viewing it is, oh, he's fat-shaming me.
01:15And what he had actually done was, and we're going to get to the second thing in a minute,
01:21but what he had actually done was, he was just trying to, now look, we both work out.
01:26And I will say, I've had a back problem at times.
01:28I'm very conscious.
01:29I'm much, much younger.
01:30I haven't.
01:31I'm very conscious when I do back exercises of how much weight I put on.
01:37And 10 pounds makes a difference.
01:39And I know where I should be and where I shouldn't.
01:42And I could understand if he's had back problems, and he doesn't know.
01:46He wants to protect himself.
01:47I get it.
01:48Right?
01:49He's the director of the film.
01:51If he doesn't protect himself, it's going to screw up the whole film.
01:52Right.
01:53So I get that from his point of view.
01:54I get it.
01:55I also get it from her point of view that the trainer comes to her and says, yeah, the
02:00guy in the love scene you're about to do wants to know how much you weigh.
02:03The trainer is the blaster here.
02:05Right.
02:06Absolutely.
02:07In no way is that going to go over well with a woman.
02:10When a man is inquiring about your weight, not to be like in a flattering way where it's
02:15like, oh, she's so thin, instead it's, I want to know how much she weighs because she might
02:19be a little too heavy for me.
02:21No, no, no, no, no, no, no.
02:23Because he's got back problems.
02:24Not from his perspective.
02:25Not from his perspective.
02:26But she's just not a kid like you mentioned.
02:29But also because he's the director, she might be thinking that he's asking for that reason.
02:34You know what I'm saying?
02:35Again, the trainer didn't give her the information.
02:38Didn't say fully, he's got back issues.
02:41He just wanted to know.
02:42Right.
02:43Right.
02:44If you say it that way, you could understand.
02:46It's not about somebody's body image or size.
02:50Right.
02:51It's not the director body shaming you.
02:52It's not your co-star saying you're too heavy for him to lift.
02:55Protect his back.
02:56I mean, at a point you may say, look, maybe I should use a weight belt or something underneath.
03:00I don't know.
03:01But any woman is going to be a little sensitive about that, especially coming off of just
03:05having your fourth child.
03:07You just had her fourth baby with Ryan Reynolds.
03:09Well, there's a difference between saying, hey, he wants to know how much you weigh versus
03:14he's got a back problem and he just wants to know the weight because he knows what his
03:18back can take.
03:19That's a huge difference.
03:20So that's one of the things.
03:22The other thing, again, it depends on your point of view.
03:26But the other thing had to do with a love scene that they were filming.
03:30And there was a kiss that, for Blake at least, it seemed that the kiss lingered a little
03:37too long than necessary for the scene.
03:40Now, I don't know, as actors, unless someone tells you exactly it's supposed to be three
03:47seconds or whatever it is and it's just up to you, then I can obviously that leaves a
03:54huge that leaves a lot of room for interpretation.
03:57Interpretation.
03:58Yeah.
03:59And you can see kind of both sides on this issue as well.
04:01She's maybe thinking like, OK, he's being a little inappropriate.
04:05The scene was clearly done.
04:06But then he could also be thinking, you know, he's not just the co-star.
04:10He's also the director.
04:11So maybe in his mind, he wants some extra, I don't know, whatever, pizzazz for that scene.
04:18And he did feel it was necessary.
04:19I will say, though, that if you're the director and you want something, you need to let the
04:22actors know that.
04:23Right.
04:24So I don't know if that's what happened.
04:25But there's also a lot of method acting.
04:26We also don't know.
04:27We also don't know how long how how extra was it for her.
04:31Was it half a second?
04:33Was it three seconds?
04:34Right.
04:35So, yeah.
04:36Well, that one's murky.
04:37Here's here's here's two things.
04:39All of this controversy may have actually helped the movie because the movie was number
04:44two in the box office behind Deadpool over the weekend.
04:47It is now number one this week during the week for the first two days of the week, first
04:51two days of the week.
04:52It's actually top Deadpool.
04:54Yeah.
04:55So in a way, it's helped.
04:56My second thing is a question.
04:57Who's winning this on social media?
05:00Blake or Justin?
05:01Yeah, definitely.
05:02Blake, for sure.
05:03But by the way, this is kind of the don't worry, darling situation.
05:07Right.
05:08So if you remember that movie, no one really cared to see it.
05:11But there was all this drama between the co-stars, Harry Styles, Florence Pugh, Olivia Wilde.
05:16And everyone was talking about all that drama, which I'm sure was partly true, but also possibly
05:22embellished.
05:23And then it became so much publicity about the movie that the movie actually did pretty
05:27well.
05:28And this is kind of what people think.
05:30Also, that same scenario where maybe people weren't going to I mean, I've never heard
05:34of this movie before all this drama.
05:36And now I'm ready to go see it this weekend.
05:38By the way, I talked to a couple of people who said they thought Justin was winning on
05:44social media.
05:45Yeah.
05:46It always it always depends on who you're talking to.
05:47Right.
05:48But everybody much like politics, everybody's everybody's in their own silo.
05:52Right.
05:53Exactly.
05:54Hi, my name is Revette Soro.
05:55I'm in Los Angeles.
05:57And in my opinion, you have to be very sensitive when speaking to a woman about her weight,
06:02especially when a woman just had her fourth child.
06:06And I also think that Justin was trying to protect himself and protect Blake.
06:11If he picked her up and dropped her, that would be terrible for both of them.
06:14Two things.
06:15What you said was that you have to be careful when you talk to a woman about her weight.
06:19He didn't talk to her.
06:21Right.
06:22He talked to the trainer.
06:23The trainer decided to stir up the you know what, right?
06:26And but hold on.
06:27We should say for the trainers part, the trainer might not have done it on purpose and inadvertently
06:33stirred it up because the trainer didn't give all the information.
06:36I'm not buying that.
06:37I have a second.
06:38I know.
06:39I'm the second thing.
06:40I'm into that painting behind you.
06:41Oh, boy.
06:42I am into that painting.
06:43I like it.
06:44I really like it.
06:45I think Blake's feelings are valid.
06:47I think it may have been presented to her in maybe an offensive way from the trainer.
06:51I don't think Justin meant anything by it.
06:53And from what I've been seeing on social media in the beginning, people were supporting Blake
06:57more.
06:58But as the press tour goes on, Justin, I think, is speaking about the film more sensitively
07:03than Blake is.
07:04I think Blake has kind of been painting it to be like a cute rom-com, whereas Justin
07:07is speaking on the real issues of domestic violence in the film.
07:11And the tables are turning, in my opinion.
07:13I think Justin's getting a lot of support.
07:15That's exactly what I heard.
07:16People see the movie, I think, and they're like, wait a second.
07:17And they've asked Blake about it, and she hasn't embraced the domestic violence part.
07:22And she's getting some blowback for that.
