00:00Hey Psych2Goers, welcome back to another video.
00:09We would like to give you a big thank you for all the support you've given us.
00:14Psych2Go's mission is to make psychology and mental health more accessible to everyone.
00:19Now back to the video.
00:21Have you ever wondered about the best way to maintain a good relationship?
00:25What keeps a relationship active and healthy?
00:28While it's important to have good chemistry with someone, it's also important to put in
00:32work and effort into your relationship.
00:35It can get difficult at times, so it's important you and your partner have good habits in your
00:39relationship for it to grow and flourish.
00:42Before we begin, we'd like to mention that while this video covers some features of healthy
00:47relationships, it's normal that not everyone fulfills all these points.
00:51It is also possible that there may be some methods out there that this video did not
00:55mention.
00:56With that said, Psych2Go shares with you 8 healthy habits of a relationship.
01:011.
01:02You show your affection.
01:04Are you able to be vulnerable with your partner?
01:07Closeness and trust often go hand in hand.
01:10Hand-holding, hugging, cuddling, and kissing are all engagements of physical contact that
01:15may help reassure each other of your love for each other.
01:19It's a silent and implicit way to let your partner know you're there for them and that
01:23you love them.
01:242.
01:26You're able to communicate with each other.
01:28Are you comfortable communicating with your partner?
01:31Holding judgment and keeping an open mind is important for you to engage in an honest
01:36conversation with them.
01:38Instead of letting your unresolved feelings fester up inside, it's important to cultivate
01:42a safe space where both of you are unafraid to speak up about problems in your relationship.
01:483.
01:49You emotionally bond with them.
01:51Are you able to laugh together or talk about your feelings with each other?
01:55Any strong relationship needs a solid foundation of emotional bonding.
01:59Whether it's by laughing and being silly together or having deep discussions about
02:03life, being able to be emotionally intimate with your partner is really important and
02:08a good sign of a healthy relationship.
02:114.
02:12You make up after arguments.
02:14Are you stubborn at times and refuse to make up after a fight?
02:18Or do you own up to your mistakes and go the extra mile to make things okay?
02:22It's important to learn how to make amends with your partner after an argument.
02:27Fighting is what produces distance and often leads to breakups, so a strong relationship
02:31involves not holding grudges and a willingness to admit when you're wrong.
02:365.
02:37You appreciate each other.
02:39Do you tell your partner how special they are and how much they mean to you?
02:43Having mutual respect and appreciation is one of the keys to maintaining a healthy relationship.
02:49It can be easy to take someone for granted and forget to show them how much you care.
02:54So it's important to be thankful and appreciate all the things you do for each other to maintain
02:58a healthy relationship.
03:006.
03:02You see a future together.
03:04Do you actually see a future with your partner?
03:07Knowing that you'll always be together through thick and thin and maintaining that kind of
03:10faith is a big deal.
03:13Life throws curveballs often when you least expect them, so being able to count on your
03:17partner to be there by your side every step of the way is important for a strong relationship.
03:237.
03:24You balance housework.
03:26Do you do all the chores in the house?
03:29Whether it's about doing chores or running errands, balance is key in a relationship.
03:34Maybe you're more experienced in cooking than your partner, so maybe they could wash the
03:38dishes or vacuum the floor instead.
03:40If housework or tasks that should be done by the both of you are always being completed
03:45by only you or your partner, feelings of resentment may arise and cause problems in your relationship.
03:518.
03:53You give each other personal space.
03:55Do you have time and space for yourself that is away from your partner?
03:59While closeness and intimacy are important in a relationship, it's also crucial to have
04:04boundaries.
04:05Despite having a close connection, you and your partner also need personal space as well.
04:10Too much time together may lead to feelings of frustration or resentment, therefore a
04:15healthy relationship requires a balance between the time you spend yourself and with your
04:19partner.
