Nigel Short, Penderyn Distillery's Chairman, is going to Ukraine.  This is video #1 - from Carmarthenshire to Bristol Airport.

00:00Hi, my name's Nigel Short and I'm the chairman of Penderyn, Single Malt Welsh Whisky, and

00:07I'm off to Ukraine this morning.

00:10So it's about 11.30 on Tuesday, and by plane and car and trains, I think there was a film

00:17about that at one time, I hope to get to Ukraine early on Thursday morning, so about 44 hours

00:23of travelling.

00:25I'm just leaving our beautiful, rainy Carmarthenshire.

00:31So I've promised to do some vlogging along the way, and I'll keep you posted as we go.

00:37That's my grandson having his packed lunch, lunch packed for him and me by my wonderful

00:43wife Louise, and next stop will be Bristol, where we spend the night, and I'm dropping

00:49him off with my daughter before going to Bristol Airport in the morning to go out to

00:55Ukraine.

00:56And it's going to be some journey, so about a three, three and a half hour car journey

01:03to Bristol Airport, then a three hour flight to eastern Poland, then a two hour drive to

01:09the border, and then a 13 hour overnight train journey to Kiev.

01:16So I'm looking forward to it, I'm a little apprehensive, I don't mind saying, and a lot

01:22of people have asked me why I'm going to Ukraine, and the easy answer is I'm going to support

01:30our wonderful importers there, they buy a lot of Pandarin whisky from us, obviously

01:35the Ukrainians love Pandarin.

01:39The longer answer is more complicated, and I think I'll need to come back to that during

01:44the trip, but it's certainly something I've wanted to do for a long time, and even if

01:49it's, I don't know, just some sort of small show of solidarity, but we'll return to that

01:54question later in the trip.

01:56Next stop, Bristol Airport, my favourite part of the trip, the Ryanair dash across the tarmac,

02:04beating off your fellow passengers, I've been in training for weeks for this, and all to

02:09get the best seat and access to the cheesy Watsits.
