YouTube shuts account of Portuguese group accused of spreading online hate

00:07The online video sharing platform said it blocked the account for violating its policy against hate speech
00:14after receiving queries about its activities from the New York Times.
00:18Grupo 1143, where the number represents the year Portugal was born as a sovereign nation,
00:25is led by Mário Machado, a neo-Nazi activist.
00:29Machado has served term behind bars for assault, racial discrimination and other crimes.
00:36His group organized anti-immigration and anti-Islam protest earlier this year,
00:41including one in the city of Porto in April, which was followed in May by two attacks on migrants.
00:48Authorities have said they are investigating the group, which denied responsibility over the attacks.
