00:00Here's a turn up for the books walker and we're all talking about the fact that the best technical
00:24wrestler in the world, soon to be G1 Climax 34 winner, still coming home, Zack Sabre Jr. is here, but this man.
00:35You hear Zack Sabre Jr. doing our job for us, an original member of TMDK outside of the ranks of New Japan Pro Wrestling,
00:42makes his return to the cerulean blue for the first time since July 2nd, 2006.
00:48Hiroki Goto and Minoru Tanaka defeating an early incarnation of TMDK, Mikey Nichols, and this man, Hartley Jackson.
00:58Way, way back in the day, oh, he's a real man, man.
01:04Hartley and Mikey, Shane Hayster as well, were part of the original Inoki Formed LA Dojo, and that's what got them the look way back when.
01:13And Hartley Jackson was told after that match in 2006, why don't you stay in Japan, couple of months, we'll have a job for you.
01:21Well, it took about 18 years, but he's here again.
01:25The old Hartley's here, one of the most influential men in Australian Pro Wrestling, I know Gino's watching right now,
01:32will say exactly the same thing, one of those great unsung heroes, and while we're on the term,
01:37all the unsung heroes do have to make mention, and well, I mean, sad in a way, but the retirement of Yoshinori Yagawa,
01:44announced earlier this week in Pro Wrestling Noire, will part of the wrestling community here in Japan.
01:58You know, when all is said and done, Yoshinori Yagawa, and Hartley Jackson as well,
02:02one of those men, people that are your favourite wrestler's favourite wrestler,
02:06and Yoshinori Yagawa had a huge, huge influence on Zack Sabre Jr.'s career,
02:14and I think ZSJ will be even more motivated now to come home and take on the big one Sunday in Ryogoku.
03:02Let's go!
03:16Come on, Mr. 14 points!
03:20A venture of the original TMDK's maps, and Hartley Jackson,
03:27but the current generation and a potential future for David Finlay could involve a G1 Climax tournament victory,
03:37becoming the second international star in New Japan Pro Wrestling history to win that trophy,
03:43and he's already said, hey, if I win G1 Climax, I have no interest in going after the IWGP World Heavyweight Championship.
03:51He says that his IWGP Global Heavyweight Championship is the top prize in professional wrestling,
03:58and to cement it as such, if David Finlay wins the G1, he is going to main event the Tokyo Dome,
04:04not for the world title, but for the global title.
04:09He even says he wants to fight Tony Khan in a steel cage, Walker.
04:13I like that kind of talk.
04:15Hope we're on the call for that one.
04:21Let's go!
04:27G1 Climax 34, B-Block representative, IWGP Global Heavyweight Champion, the level, David Finlay!
04:44Finlay and Zack Sabre Jr. both flying, as you said, to be the first person since Kenny Omega,
04:50only the second in history, non-Japanese, to win the G1 Climax.
04:55Also, there is that curse on champions in the G1 that David Finlay has bucked to advance out of the group stage,
05:02still with that Global Heavyweight Championship.
05:08KOPW 2024 holder, Great O'Connell, could say the same.
05:11I was going to say, the only other champion in this tournament we will be seeing actually in our next matchup quarterfinals.
05:17Shingo Takagi, Great O'Connell, still to come.
05:20Any of these six men, and I mean any of them, could be this one's G1 Climax winner this year.
05:26I'd argue one of the most unpredictable G1 Climaxes that we have had in quite a long time.
05:30Absolutely, I think you're absolutely correct.
05:34It's going to make for one of the most unpredictable roads to WrestleKingdom, WrestleDynasty,
05:40January 4th and 5th that we have ever had.
05:43We do want to make mention, thanks for selling out that pre-sale we had a few weeks ago,
05:47general on-sale for international ticket buyers.
05:51If you're travelling to Japan at the end of 2024 into 2025, be a part of WrestleKingdom week,
05:57and we will have on-sale dates coming up very, very soon, I believe in the next week or two,
06:03so you can be a part of the action inside the Tokyo Dome.
06:06Nothing else like it.
06:08WrestleKingdom week still to come, featuring ourselves in New Japan Pro Wrestling
06:11and our friends over at Stardom who are also experiencing a current sell-out in Korakuen Hall for 5-star Grand Prix.
06:17Half an eye to see what might be coming out of that event.
06:22Lots of great stuff coming out of Stardom.
06:25And just as good, things coming out over here in the G1 Climax.
06:39It's David Finlay who joined me at the English broadcast booth midway through this tour.
06:44Talked to me about the way that he truly sees his colleagues in the War Dogs.
06:48Nothing more than pawns in his game for personal motive.
06:51Well, I mean, when David Finlay first formed the War Dogs, or in that genesis of,
06:58you remember when he recruited Clark Connors, I remember in Philadelphia,
07:01and he made that statement, I'm going to be the first person to turn on Bullet Club before Bullet Club turns on me.
07:09I think he kind of, he knows that if you're in this position, you're at that head of that faction.
07:17It's not a job for life.
07:21David Finlay wants to utilize everything in Bullet Club as his weapon, as his tool.
07:28And then I think that David Finlay will cash out of Bullet Club before Bullet Club runs out of their use for him.
07:35Or at least that's what David Finlay thinks.
07:38So often when you're playing checkers, oh, bloody Hans Gato is playing chess.
07:42And you have to really wonder when that time will be, if there ever will be that time for David Finlay.
07:49Very few men that have walked into Bullet Club and only gone, I'm going to be here for a short period of time.
07:53I'll take my leave when I want.
07:55Well, it's very easy to want out.
08:01It's like Hotel California.
08:03You can check out any time you like, but you can never leave.
08:06That's a dated reference right there.
08:08I'm a dated man.
08:09I respect that.
08:10We'll go out on a date later on.
08:11It's David Finlay and Zack Sabre Jr.
08:14Reason bringing up that point of utilizing the War Dogs as pawns.
08:18Gabe Kidd, a hell of a war with Zack Sabre Jr. back in Yokohama.
08:22Unbelievable.
08:23One of my top matches of the tournament personally.
08:27Gabe Kidd wasn't able to dismantle Zack Sabre Jr.
08:29It was Zack that put points up over Kidd.
08:32But Zack's still feeling the effects of that match and every other match he's had in this tournament.
08:36It's all compounded on each other.
08:38That's a very good point.
08:39Very, very good point.
08:41And that could be the long game.
08:44It would certainly be something we could very well see in all foreign G1 Climax Final.
08:50First time ever.
08:51What a sweep.
08:53What a sweep.
08:54And David Finlay staying on top of it.
08:56One of that Zack driver and Sabre Jr. right out.
08:58Here we go.
08:59Back elbow from David Finlay.
09:01Stopping that momentum from ZSJ.
09:04Cover it.
09:05It's only one.
09:06Has it counted?
09:11We've yet to see the big man legal in this match so far.
09:14We're going to have to put a little bit of a hold on that one.
09:20David Finlay wants to make sure that the big man doesn't get into this match.
09:25He also, I think he takes an extra delight, well David Finlay, in making sure Harley doesn't get his opportunity at long last.
09:35The next set for Zack Sabre Jr. might be academic though.
09:41And for the first time since 2006, Hartley Jackson is legal in a new Japan pro wrestling ring.
09:48Has been making a name for himself still across the Japanese independents competing in all Japan pro wrestling.
09:53Got body and pro even all the way to 0-1.
09:58A long, was a long, long staple in 0-1.
10:00Trained a lot of their guys.
10:04Since Japan is home.
10:08Uh oh.
10:15A get up, just like we talked about with Akira earlier on in the evening, the lone junior heavyweight in this match.
10:22And Harley Jackson, doesn't matter what weight class you're in, this man will topple you down.
10:27Well I think he's on his own weight class in this match as well.
10:30Cauldron on super heavyweight is Hartley.
10:35They all come to that incredible power base.
10:37A base Zack Sabre Jr. has added on to as of recent.
10:44Zack, off the ropes once again, trying to blow through.
10:47They put that kick in the air.
10:49Man, oh man.
10:51Explosivity still right where he needs it.
10:54Power when he needs it.
10:56Hasn't given up any of his flexibility.
10:58Zack Sabre Jr. on absolutely perfect form.
11:03We'll see how perfect he is after this.
11:05That spine right through onto the knee of David Finley.
11:10I'd have to say Walker, yeah, if there is a chink in the armor, it's in the midsection.
11:15The back, but yes of course the ribs, those intercostals has been a conversation through this tournament as well.
11:22David Finley, despite having a bum left shoulder, the strength, the power he's shown in this tournament.
11:29My god, clearly even parabolic Jeff Cobb.
11:32Oh lord.
11:34What a battle that was. Hold on.
11:41Zack now, sunset through, shoulders down.
11:43Back through for Finley.
11:45Shoulders of Finley down.
11:46Sabre Jr. down.
11:47We're back and forth here.
11:49This could be a shock win for one of these men.
11:51No.
11:53No.
12:02Northern Irish curse.
12:05From David Finley.
12:13Yeah, and that's the way, there you go.
12:15I mean that's clearly the plan for David Finley.
12:17He knows that there is a chance.
12:21Could be half, could be better.
12:23They're facing Zack Sabre Jr. in the final Sunday.
12:26Oh man, and Zack Sabre Jr. knows that too.
12:31He's going to get the damage dealt now.
12:33There you go.
12:34Finley underneath Sabre Jr. running Europe.
12:38And Zack would love to get Hartley Jackson back inside this match.
12:41Take a little bit of time to recover.
12:43Put the hurt in on the global heavyweight champion.
12:49Gitta had to make the tag.
12:51He had to, but he really didn't want to.
12:58This is what I tell you.
13:01Calm down, big man.
13:03Calm down.
13:04This is what I tell you.
13:06Yes.
13:07Friend now.
13:08Shake my hand.
13:09Shake my hand.
13:10Yeah, you said that before.
13:11Friend now.
13:12Friend.
13:13TMDK WarDogs.
13:14Right?
13:15Yeah, yeah, yeah, yeah.
13:16Shake my hand.
13:17Shake my hand.
13:18Shake my hand.
13:19Yeah.
13:20Oh.
13:21Well, no time to ask an audience.
13:25Well, the polling process delayed.
13:27It's like an election stolen.
13:28Here we go.
13:30Drag right out into the corner.
13:32Hartley Jackson coming in full force onto Ghetto.
13:36You think we can see a TMDK WarDogs alliance?
13:38I don't think it's coming anytime soon.
13:41Cover here.
13:42Onto Hartley.
13:43It's two.
13:47Hartley would love to take this victory.
13:49And hey, maybe some more New Japan Pro Wrestling appearances
13:52should have come his direction.
13:53Tell you what, kid.
13:54Maybe we'll call you in about three months.
13:56See what happens.
13:58Hartley Jackson had Ghetto up on the shoulders.
14:00Oh, shot right to the eyes again.
14:06That Memphis influence from Ghetto.
14:12Yeah.
14:13Memphis ain't the world.
14:14Ain't gonna put that big Australian on his butt.
14:17He likes it.
14:20Wanting for punishment is Hartley Jackson.
14:22Oh.
14:27Big man's got Ghetto down.
14:30Oh, no.
14:37No, there's no way.
14:38Ghetto clutch?
14:40No way.
14:41Not forcing that skull down of Hartley Jackson.
14:43Not easily at all.
14:45Ghetto's going for a ride here, Charlton.
14:47What's this mean?
14:50Backpack sit out.
14:53And got that senton he wanted in the end.
14:58Oh.
15:04Could be a big win on the horizon here for Hartley Jackson.
15:07DVD lands out onto Ghetto.
15:10Cover here.
15:11And the three.
15:15I like this young man, Hartley Jackson.
15:19I see something in this kid's.
15:25All joking aside,
15:26Hartley Jackson, hell of a performance here tonight.
15:28Scores the victory for TMDK.
15:31But the real victory that TMDK is looking for
15:34is for it to finally come home.
15:36Chris Charlton, you have been calling for it.
15:38Your country's people have been calling for it.
15:41A big parade.
15:42It's all up and down the streets.
15:43Big open top double decker buses.
15:46Ticket sales.
15:48Whatever you want.
15:49Bunting.
15:53Jam sandwiches.
15:57Nice bit of Battenberg.
15:59Okay.
16:02Well, the confidence is riding high
16:04between Zack Sabre Jr. and David Finlay.
16:06But this is not our final, which is set.
16:09It will either be David Finlay taking on Tsuji,
16:12David Finlay taking on Takeshita for the semis.
16:16If Finlay can get through either of those two men,
16:18well then, maybe it's time to start thinking about
16:21an all four final.
16:24That's David Finlay.
16:26Got the win over Takeshita earlier on in the league,
16:28but lost one to Tsuji.
16:30Yes, he did.
16:31Meanwhile, Zack Sabre Jr. beat Great-O-Khan,
16:34but lost to Shingo Takagi.
16:36I wonder whether that's affecting the mental status
16:38of either of these athletes
16:40as they take their trip back to watch intently on the monitors.
16:53Coming up on August 17th,
16:55Ryogoku Sumo Hall.
16:57Big Jack won't be along for the ride,
16:59but Big Zack very well will be.
17:01It is August 17th.
17:03Sabre Jr. takes on either Shingo Takagi or Great-O-Khan.
17:07Whoever wins this next quarterfinal match,
17:09we'll see in the semis.
17:10And speaking of this next quarterfinal,
17:12it's coming right now.
