05:20Always so if someone who's far from God and really may be a skeptic or angry toward God my goal

05:29My goal is to get them to just take one step in that direction
05:33Maybe they went from anger to now slightly intrigued
05:39Interested willing to have a conversation which is why I was talking with someone else this week and the at least this is an old
05:45stat I think it's the number has increased but it used to be that it would take people nine times of hearing the gospel before
05:52They might be ready to even make a decision around it whether they're gonna say yes to it or no to it
05:57Nine times of hearing it. So if you ever tell someone about Jesus and you feel like they rejected you guess what?
06:03They didn't reject you. They might just be a
06:06Some journey right now
06:07Just taking one more step in this direction as the the idea of the gospel is
06:12Softening on the soul of their heart and on their life to the finally they get to the place
06:17A decision yes or no, and if they say yes to Jesus, then something is completely transformed within them
06:24The Holy Spirit is placed within them, but the journey's not over
06:27They actually continue growing and they need to continue growing in this journey to grow closer to God
06:32It's a big theological world word that we call sanctification and all that simply means is becoming more like Jesus. It's where he gets

06:45Or the patience becomes more like Christ my parenting my relationship with my spouse that becomes more like Christ

06:55Work ethic becomes more like Christ all these different areas of my life become more
07:01like Christ as I do I
07:03Fall more in love with God and I look more like Jesus and I continue moving on the spiritual spectrum
07:09But all of us were made by
07:12And and he wants us to move in that direction on the spiritual spectrum
07:17and
07:19He's the head of the body the church
07:21He's the beginning and the firstborn from among the dead so that in everything he might have supremacy
07:28This is an interesting term. He's the beginning of the firstborn from among the dead
07:33It simply means that he is the very first person to have raised from the dead and stayed alive
07:38There were others actually who didn't raise from the dead in the Old Testament, but guess what they
07:44Died first one to raise from the dead and stay alive
07:47And what that shows us is it shows us that he was victorious actually over sin and death and he modeled now how we?
07:56Over sin and the consequences of death in our life things were there
08:02And hurt you see life and victory there
08:07Are you with me and then I don't want you to just understand that idea
08:15Theoretically, I want it to be fleshed out in every area of your of your life. I want him to be supreme in

08:27Everything so that in everything he might have supremacy what's included in everything?

08:50Or the rush home to actually pick up my kids and bring them back to church my oldest daughter who normally does that wasn't available
08:56And so I was doing it that morning, so it's 845. I'm running home. We got a nine o'clock service, okay?
09:01So this is like cutting it really close
09:03But I was already here because I'm always here early in the morning, and I had to run home grab the kids
09:07So I'm buzzing home. I'm not really paying attention
09:10You know how you just kind of go on autopilot, and you just drive, so that's what I was doing
09:14And I'm thinking about church
09:15I'm thinking about the service and all the things my message just all that stuff's going through my head
09:22in front of my house about to
09:25Look up in my mirror rearview mirror, and there is a police car
09:30And I look I'm like oh, no, and I'm thinking well my house is right there. I think I'll make it
09:37But before I pulled into my
09:41And so I pull into my driveway, which is just gotta look hilarious

10:04Just don't do that so the lady police officer. She looked at me, and she said sir
10:10And I smiled at her and I said yes, ma'am. You know I always tell my kids be respectful give honor
10:16They all deserve it and so I do hop back in my car roll down the window, and I'm like ma'am

10:24And church is starting in 15 minutes
10:26I don't normally have to pick up my kids, but I had to rush home and get them and saw I was in a hurry

10:33I said I have no idea, but I'm sure I'm guilty you know because seriously
10:38I just like my brain was I was on autopilot. I wasn't paying any attention, and she's like well you rolled

10:48You know what and and so she's like you know license registration all that stuff
10:52That's a good part her car, and she's there for a couple minutes. I'm sitting there like I just I think I
10:58I'm sorry. You know it's like. I'm just trying

11:04She comes back to my window, and she's like I know you're in a hurry, so I'll have the ticket sent to your house

11:20So then I bring my kids here, and so midweek the
11:24Ticket shows up in the mail. I was really hoping that maybe she was just oh
11:28She was saying that and then no ticket would show up and be like oh, she was so nice

11:37I'm kind of griping about it to my wife

11:42Like this is just ridiculous. I was in our subdivision. She looked at me and Lisa. She was Josh

11:50And I'm like I'm not immune to tickets like I'm all for getting a ticket if I'm going 20 miles per hour

20:57We find that there are some areas that we keep saying I want to control this area of my life
