00:00This is another breaking news of the 24-hour weekend.
00:07Because of the oil spill in Bataan and the red tide in some parts of the country,
00:12the sale of seafood is slow.
00:14That's why the vendors are in panic.
00:16Darlene Cai has the breaking news.
00:21The vendors of the fish in Paranaque Fisherman's Wharf
00:25sold their fish to show that they are safe to eat.
00:28They said that the oil spill in Bataan caused the sale to slow down.
00:32The red tide in some places in Visayas and Mindanao caused that.
00:36Our product is very safe.
00:38And usually, our fish will still be fat.
00:42Menchie is still a sucker for fish even though the oil spill in Bataan.
00:47I'm scared.
00:48But we just choose to buy the fish.
00:52Like, we check if the fish is still fresh.
00:56In the last oil spill bulletin of BIFAR on August 13,
01:00the fish and shellfish samples they collected from Cavite were not safe to eat
01:05based on their sensory evaluation.
01:08The samples they got from Bataan, Bulacan, Pampanga, Batangas,
01:13and Paranaque, Navotas, and Las Piñas were safe to eat.
01:16In the last shellfish bulletin of BIFAR,
01:19the shellfish in some provinces in Visayas, Mindanao, and Puerto Princesa
01:23were positive for toxic red tide or paralytic shellfish poison.
01:27That's why they were not safe to eat.
01:30The fish, squid, shrimp, and mullet were safe in the said places
01:34as long as they are fresh and clean.
01:38As of now, the oil spill from MT Terra Nova is less than one liter per hour.
01:45The small leaks that we can see are properly managed.
01:49We are able to control them.
01:51Preparations are still underway for the extraction of more than one million liters of oil
01:56that was loaded by the ship.
01:58We are still preparing for the hot topping procedure.
02:03We still have two ongoing pipes that we are installing
02:08in preparation for the siphoning process.
02:12There was no oil spill from MT Jason Bradley
02:16that the authorities are now compiling to be loaded.
02:19The PCG is also assisting in the investigation of the sinking of three ships in Bataan.
02:24For GMA Integrated News, Darlene Cai, for 24 Hours.
