00:00The Malaysian Shari'i Law Court has issued a warning to Muslim-religious husbands
00:07not to violate their wives' rights through social media
00:11because it violates the laws of the Muslim family.
00:14The former president, Muiz Basri, told the FMT that
00:18it is a crime to violate the law outside the country
00:21and without the permission of the Shari'ah court.
00:24The FMT court found that the decision was also contained
00:27in the Enactment or Ordinance of the Islamic Family Law
00:31of All Countries and Regions of the United Nations.
00:34But in Perak, the punishment is heavier,
00:36a fine of no more than RM3,000
00:38or imprisonment up to two years
00:40or both if proven guilty.
00:44The former Minister of Law, Zaid Ibrahim,
00:47raised the issue of Muslim husbands
00:49violating their wives' rights through video or WhatsApp
00:52by referring to the case of a famous actress
00:54whose husband was divorced through video recording.
