00:00U.S. Secretary of State Antony Blinken says Israel has agreed to a U.S.-backed ceasefire
00:07proposal.
00:09On his visit to Israel, Blinken met with Israeli Prime Minister Benjamin Netanyahu, who he
00:15said agreed to bridge the differences that were holding up negotiations with the militant
00:19group.
00:20In a very constructive meeting with Prime Minister Netanyahu today, he confirmed to
00:25me that Israel accepts the bridging proposal, that he supports it.
00:31It's now incumbent on Hamas to do the same.
00:34However, it is still unclear whether Israel has conceded certain demands, such as maintaining
00:40control over two strategic corridors in Gaza, an outcome that Hamas rejects.
00:47Thousands of Israelis gathered outside Blinken's hotel during his trip, urging him to push
00:53Netanyahu towards a deal with Hamas.
00:57But many displaced Palestinians in Gaza expressed displeasure at Blinken's visit.
01:15After leaving Israel, Blinken will head to Cairo, where mediators are meeting again to
01:20try and cement a ceasefire deal.
