  • last month
Motor-mad Ryan Camp transformed an old pick-up truck into the ULTIMATE racing vehicle. Ryan decided to build his own mud truck after attending events and watching other drivers compete. His truck, Sick 50 Mega Truck, can jump over hills and race through four-feet deep mud.The 429 stone truck started life as an old 1950 Chevrolet full body truck. It took Ryan, 35, from Georgia, USA, a year to complete his dream mud truck.

00:09Massive vehicles, huge wheels, loud engines and lots of mud.
00:13This is the intense & dirty world of Mega Mud Trucks.
00:21The adrenalin rush is like no other. It's unbelievable.
00:26different events at every event. There's going to be the tire pull. There's the hill and
00:32hole event, that's where we jump the truck across three hills as a timed event. There
00:36will also be mud drags where we're in the mud, side by side drag racing. It's better
00:41than any drug.
00:44COMMM://an avid fan of mega truck events, Ryan Camp from Georgia, USA felt he could no longer
00:51stay on the sidelines and decided to have his own competition standard vehicle built
00:56so he could take part himself.
00:5701.25 That original truck is just a two wheel drive
01:01low rider street truck.
01:02Bought it over in South Carolina, I made about a four hour drive basically there and back,
01:07bought the truck, took it to BMF Fab, they began the process of starting the chassis.
01:13It took a whole year and an outlay of $80,000 for his 650 mega truck to be finished.
01:21It's a 1950 Chevrolet, a full body truck, it's all steel.
01:27It has a 540 blower motor, it's a 1271 BDS street blower, runs on alcohol.
01:35It's got two and a half ton axles, front and rear.
01:40Has 20 inch travel Scott shocks, these are the 13-6-26BKT-171s, they've been cut and
01:48scooped for more traction.
01:50The rims are powder coated with a metallic finish.
01:54It's got the full roll cage, five point harnesses, special seats, everything about them, safety
02:01is definitely number one priority.
02:03Despite the extensive safety features, Ryan's wife Brittany still has her concerns.
02:09As his wife, I'm always his number one fan.
02:11When we were at West Georgia Mud Park a couple weeks ago, they were just out playing around,
02:16they had done a jump, and when he landed, he landed on two wheels, and that is probably
02:22the most nerve-wracking thing, is just knowing that there is a possibility that they could flip.
02:30So far, Ryan has taken part in eight competitions, and today he's driving at Trucks Gone Wild
02:36at Bithlow Mud Racing in Florida, USA.
02:40Even before the event has begun, his vehicle is attracting attention.
02:44Very unique truck, one-of-a-kind, beautiful paint job, beautiful truck, nice craftsmanship.
02:50I think it's beautiful, I've always loved older model vehicles, you see one all jacked
02:55up with all the different equipment that you don't see on other vehicles.
02:59But it won't stay clean and shiny for long, as Ryan prepares for today's event.
03:05We have different events at every event, this one happens to be the tire pull, this is the
03:08tri-truck challenge, there will be a three-truck team.
03:14We're two seconds off the leader, so right now we're in second place.
03:43So that's a great day overall, it was an awesome run, teammates did great, it was perfect.
03:49But the end of the competition isn't the end of Ryan's day with his pride and joy.
03:53As soon as I get home I try to wash it as quick as I can, it comes off a little bit
03:56easier, but the pressure washing process and all, I mean it can take anywhere from three
04:00to four hours to get it cleaned up.
04:02This truck will never be for sale, it's just something I've dreamed of and I have a year
04:07of my life and time and money involved in, I'll hang on to that one and give it to my son.
