00:00I was very touched that Loren wanted me to do the Mother's Day show because it's
00:04it I've been there for a few of them and it it's it's actually very moving that
00:09he asked me to do it and to celebrate the fact that I'm a mother and and then
00:13that place is my home and it was just very touching I'm gonna cry again it's
00:18exhausting and I knew that I wanted it to be great and I got this idea in my
00:28head of you know I'm a mother now and I'm the mother for the Mother's Day
00:34show I'm the mother and then I started to think about mother and the few times
00:41I've been back over the years I've noticed the shift in the cast being
00:46younger than me and asking me questions like I'm an elder like it like a tribe
00:52elder and it's been very interesting and it feels kind of funny but I get it
00:58you know for me those people were the real people and when you know when
01:06people came through the studio you know when Bill Murray came we were just
01:13gobsmacked this felt like yeah I was on the show but I've been happy to tell you
01:18what I know kid but they were really asking questions in a way that made me
01:21realize there is a generational shift happening here and watching the show
01:25I've sensed the shift as well especially with social media and the show has
01:30changed in lots of ways in that way so I knew I wanted to embrace that and be
01:36proud of it and I just thought of the song and I thought all I could think of
01:41was I wanted it to feel like I grew up loving Madonna and I loved Vogue and I
01:48just wanted to be Madonna when I was a kid and and be in and all of her videos
01:53and so I wanted it to feel like that which was like greatness but also like
02:00an homage to like everyone that came before you like classic Hollywood but
02:05this is like classic comedy you know so I just thought of who I am there and
02:13kind of mixing the two and how I mean I was so proud of myself because I rarely
02:18have good ideas that are like you know what that would make a great sketch and
02:21this one was mother and I just thought of oops I made you dance remember in
02:26that movie when I poop my pants when you were a baby you pooped your pants and I
02:30changed your diaper because I'm your mother
02:34and so I asked my kids like do you like this and they're like yeah yeah it's
02:45good good it's like we got it
