00:00Blackpool have sacked head coach Neil Critchley two games into the new League One season.
00:07The Seasiders were defeated by newly promoted Crawley Town and Stockport County in their opening games.
00:13Critchley had returned to Blingfield Road last summer after previously guiding the club to promotion in his first stint,
00:19but he was unable to replicate that success, with the club finishing 8th in League One.
00:25In a statement, owner Simon Sadler said,
00:28Neil's dedication, commitment and tireless work ethic have been a real credit to the club.
00:33Despite his best efforts over the past 12 months, there have been a number of disappointing results and performances,
00:38which means that a change is needed to give the club every possible chance of competing at the top end of the division.
00:44I will always be thankful for Neil's wonderful efforts in guiding the club to promotion to the Championship in 2021,
00:50and comfortably keeping us in the division the following season.
00:55Former Preston North End manager Ryan Law became the Buckies' early favourite to take over the vacant job
01:00following his departure from Deepdale earlier this month.
01:04Since then, the Gazette understands that the 45-year-old is not under consideration for the role.
01:11Meanwhile, assistant coach Richard Keogh will take charge of the Seasiders this weekend,
01:17as they take on Cambridge United at the Abbey Stadium.
