00:00Senator Harris, I'm from Kansas, which is a predominantly red state and

00:04My dad and some fellow friends in Kansas also lean conservatively

00:08Yeah, but they don't plan on voting for President Trump in the next election

00:12Why should conservatives and or moderates vote for you versus another Democratic candidate? That's a great question

00:19you know, um

00:20It's really basic. I

00:25Believe that

00:28One of the biggest challenges that we face right now is that we have had

00:33first

00:34At least a few years now powerful forces that have been trying to sow hate and division among us as a country

00:42That have been trying to get us as Americans to point fingers at each other. They've been trying to get us to turn on each other

00:49and

00:50We need to heal

00:52and we need to unify as a country and

00:55And

00:58Because that is the source of our strength, let's be clear about that. I

01:02Know I am uniquely

01:04Positioned to be able to do that and because in my core and based on every life experience I've had. I

01:12Know something to be true, which is that within the beauty of the diversity of our nation

01:19The vast majority of us have so much more in common than what separates us. I

01:25Know to be true that when the vast majority of us wake up in the middle of the night with that thought that's been weighing

01:31on us

01:32We are never thinking that thought through the lens of the party with which were registered to vote

01:37We are never thinking that thought through the lens of some

01:40simplistic demographics and polls to put us in and

01:43For the vast majority of us when we wake up thinking that thought has to do with one of just a very few things

01:48Our personal health the health of our children our parents for so many Americans

01:52Can I get a job keep a job pay the bills by the end of the month retire with dignity for our students?

01:57Can I pay off those student loans?

01:58The vast majority of us have so much more in common than what separates us

02:02And that's why my focus is on dealing with those things

02:06One of the issues that we have not discussed as an example is the issue of what we need to do to build back up

02:12our economy

02:14around things like infrastructure

02:17That's about jobs

02:19That's about dealing with the fact that America's roads and bridges are falling apart. That's about investing in the people of our country and

02:29People could care less

02:30you know this this affects people regardless of who they voted for in the last election and I could go on and on down the

02:36List about those issues that have nothing to do with the party with which you're registered to vote that need to be addressed and fixed

02:43And that's why I'm running for president
