00:00I will not tolerate my mom being treated bad. Ever.
00:04Especially by someone who I've only known for five weeks.
00:08You're not going to sit in the studio, pout in the corner,
00:10be a bitch to my mom, and then expect me to like you.
00:14Forgive and forget is a thing. For me, I don't forget.
00:18Jojo Siwa promised them pop stardom. They say they were thrown in the trash.
00:23This article from Rolling Stone is putting Jojo Siwa at the center of controversy once again.
00:28In 2021, Jojo Siwa and her mom, Jessalyn, starred in a reality show,
00:33Siwa's Dance Pop Revolution. The show was a competition series pitting young girls
00:37against each other to see who would be allowed to join the band XOMG Pop.
00:42Jojo was supposed to be a role model for the girls, and Jessalyn, their manager.
00:46It turned out behind the scenes, things were not so great.
00:49People started paying attention after nearly half of the members of XOMG Pop left the group.
00:54So what led to this mass exodus?
00:56For starters, according to ex-XOMG Pop members and their parents,
01:01the girls were not even told they'd be on a competition show at all.
01:04They thought they would be welcomed into a band,
01:05and the show surrounding them would focus on their rise to fame.
01:09Additionally, ex-members are claiming that Jojo Siwa, her mom, and producers of the show
01:13created a hostile and toxic environment.
01:16Allegedly, Jojo would pit members against each other and play obvious favorites.
01:20Allegedly, Jojo's mother was abusive to the girls.
01:23According to one of the sources close to the production,
01:26an adage among some of the producers on set was,
01:29it's not a good day unless you make a kid cry.
01:32One girl was forced to perform shortly after receiving surgery on her spine,
01:36despite her doctor telling her she absolutely should not.
01:39When the girl started bleeding out of her belly button, she was not allowed to stop,
01:43and was instead told to put a maxi pad over the bleeding so she wouldn't ruin her costume.
01:48The grueling pace the girls were forced to work came at the expense of everything,
01:51including school.
01:53The girls in XOMG Pop worked nine hours every day,
01:56and allegedly received six hours of schooling a month.
01:59Despite these long hours, the girls' work often went unpaid.
02:03Any social media work simply didn't result in payment.
02:06Additionally, the girls' families were forced to pay for travel,
02:08lodging, and food out of their own pocket without reimbursement.
02:12One mother and her daughter ended up sleeping on a blow-up mattress in a dance studio.
02:16The mothers were so short on funds, one mother alleges,
02:18that at one point she started working directly for Jessalyn herself.
02:22She was tasked with organizing JoJo's closet and scrubbing her toilet in her home for $20 an hour.
02:28JoJo Siwa and her mom didn't respond to comment,
02:30but their lawyer claims that all of the previously mentioned claims are false,
02:34and that the Siwas did nothing wrong.
