Israeli drone strike kills Palestinian commander in southern Lebanon as Israel, Hezbollah trade fire

00:05Makdah, a commander of the Coalition of Palestinian Armed Groups, the Al-Aqsa Martyrs Brigades.

00:11Fatah's armed wing has not carried out any attack from here since Hezbollah opened a

00:16front against Israel. The Israeli army says Makdah was linked to Iran's efforts to flood

00:22the West Bank with weapons. The brigades did acknowledge what they called Makdah's prominent

00:28role in helping the Palestinian resistance, particularly in the West Bank.

00:35The missile hit the car and it slid down the road and hit that concrete slab. Thankfully,

00:39there was no one there and no one else was hurt.

00:44Hezbollah too has started to hit sites deeper inside Israel. Its statements say it is targeting

00:49military bases, but some Katyusha rockets landed in residential areas, causing heavy

00:54damage. Israel is now accusing the armed group of firing indiscriminately at civilians.

01:01This is our reality here in Qatari. We simply do not accept this situation. The Israeli

01:07government must stop this.

01:09Israel says it is shifting the focus of its military operations from Gaza to the northern

01:14front, while the defense minister, Yoav Galant, describes the latest attacks deep inside Lebanon

01:21as paving the way for potential developments. Israel's media says the air force struck 150

01:28sites in three weeks, focusing on arms depots, as well as rocket and drone launchers, and

01:34a few of them in the Beqa region. That's in the east of the country, close to Syria, considered

01:39a logistical base for Hezbollah.

01:42This conflict triggered by Israel's war on Gaza appears heading towards an escalation,

01:47especially with little prospect of a ceasefire in the Strip. The exchange of fire is reaching

01:53areas deeper on both sides of the border.

01:56Israel has already widened the circle of assassinations where there is no longer a front line. It

02:01is also promising to, quote, act accordingly to Hezbollah's recent rocket and drone attacks.

02:08The confrontation is again in a dangerous phase.
