00:00I'm Alex Weaver with breaking news out of the NASCAR Cup Series.
00:04The National Motorsports Appeals Panel has upheld the penalty levied against Austin Dillon
00:09and the No. 3 team from Richard Childress Racing following Wednesday's hearing.
00:14The No. 3 team lost its playoff eligibility after winning in Richmond due to contact with
00:18the No. 11 and No. 22 cars on the final lap of the race.
00:24Following a full review of footage and SMT data, NASCAR ruled the totality of Dillon's
00:28actions violated multiple sections of the NASCAR rulebook.
00:32The No. 3 team also was docked 25 NASCAR Cup Series owner and driver points.
00:38However, the National Motorsports Appeals Panel did modify the suspension of Dillon's
00:43spotter, Brandon Benesch, reducing the suspension from three races to one.
00:49Dillon and RCR can appeal Wednesday's decision to the National Motorsports Final Appeals
00:54Office.
