00:00Night two of the DNC where the former President Barack Obama and First Lady
00:05Michelle Obama really were holding court with two speeches that have been very
00:12warmly received certainly by Democrats and even I've heard some Republicans who
00:18said that it's just hard to argue with their prowess in public speaking.
00:23They're both great speakers I mean there's no denying it. Yeah and they hit a few they
00:28clearly had a mission here. One was going to handle this and one was going to
00:33handle that. They did both go after Donald Trump though in in very different
00:38ways. First what Michelle Obama had to say which I think was more had more bite
00:44to it. Yeah. Whereas Barack Obama was sort of the comic relief. His limited narrow
00:50view of the world made him feel threatened by the existence of two
00:55hard-working highly educated successful people who happen to be black. I want to know. Who's going to tell him that the job he's currently seeking might just be one of those black jobs?
01:10There's the childish nicknames, the crazy conspiracy theories, this weird
01:18obsession with crowd sizes. He thinks the former president just did a penis size joke. I did not see that coming. It wasn't on my bingo card. He not only did a penis joke he nailed a penis joke. I mean he did the hand gesture he moved right on he didn't he didn't sort of hammered too much over the head. What I think is interesting here is Michelle Obama is very famous. Can you be careful with your metaphors? No puns intended. What I think is interesting here is Michelle Obama famously
01:48said when they go low we go high. But now it seems the Democratic Party is saying look we're going to get in the mud with you and we're going to make jokes at your expense. We're going to try getting down in the muck and it's working. I think it's been quite effective since Kamala has taken over the campaign. I will say look one of the things that people have always said about Donald Trump is that even when you agree or disagree with him the guy has pretty good comic timing and says things that will make you laugh even when you're just you completely disagree. People hate him I think. Right and you'll laugh.
02:18And maybe that's what the decider is like you know we are going to get in that into that arena with him a little bit. It will be interesting to see if Kamala Harris does though on Thursday night because to this point she hasn't. A lot of people have said that it feels like Donald Trump is trying to draw her in to have that battle and she hasn't. So will she do it or did they just sort of send the Obamas as the ones to handle that. I think if you're a strategist for the Dems I think you let them handle it. She shouldn't get in.
02:48I would say that.
02:49Hey I'm Nadia from Houston Texas and I think it's really refreshing to see the Obamas turn Trump's negative comments around in favor of VP Harris's nomination. They definitely have a lot more wit and elegance in addressing such blatantly racist and rude comments than Trump ever could.
03:06As long as he doesn't try and prove Barack Obama wrong on stage.
03:10No.
03:11Yeah.
03:12You should just walk away from that.
