00:00So, I was looking at the sermon for Wednesday, Hebrews 9, and realized that some of the stuff
00:06in there that needs to be preached cannot be preached in 45 minutes.
00:12So the title of the sermon today is The Lord's Tabernacle.
00:16Not the Lord's Temple, but the Lord's Tabernacle.
00:18So if you go to Hebrews 9, Hebrews 9, we've been talking about the book of Hebrews and
00:27how the things in the Old Testament that the Hebrews understand, the Jews if you want to
00:33use that term, but the Hebrews is what I like to use because it's the nation of Judah and
00:39the nation of Israel when they were all together.
00:43When they did these things, they did these things for a reason.
00:50And we're going to go through the Lord's Tabernacle, not the Lord's Temple, because God never wanted
00:57a structure to be built for Him.
01:01The Tabernacle, which is pretty much like a tent.
01:04So look at Hebrews 9.1, then verily, it means truthfully, the first covenant had also ordinances
01:11of divine service, so divine means spiritual service, the things they did, they did those
01:18things for a reason, for spiritual reasons, and a worldly sanctuary.
01:24So what he's saying is they combined the worldly sanctuary on this earth with divine
01:30services for there was a tabernacle made the first, where was the candlestick and the table
01:37and the showbread, which is called the sanctuary.
01:42And we're going to go through these things.
01:43So the first thing, and after the second veil, the tabernacle, which is called the holiest
01:50of all, which had the golden censer and the Ark of the Covenant overlaid round about with
01:56gold, wherein was a gold pot that had manna and Aaron's rod that budded in the tables
02:03of the covenant.
02:06And over it, the cherubims of glory, shadowing the mercy seat of which we cannot speak particularly
02:13can now, I'm sorry, cannot now speak particularly.
02:17So the first thing is the Ark of the Testimony.
02:20We see in Hebrews 9 forward, it talks about the Ark of the Testimony.
02:25If you'll go to Exodus 25, Exodus 25, keep your finger there and we'll go to Exodus 25.
02:35So what is the Ark?
02:36An Ark is nothing more than a box of the Testimony.
02:42What is it talking about?
02:43It's talking about the Ten Commandments was kept inside that Ark.
02:47When Moses came down from Mount Sinai and the Lord gave him the Ten Commandments, God
02:53told him to build a box or an Ark to put these things inside of.
03:00That's what it's talking about, the Ark of the Testimony.
03:03Look at Exodus 25.10.
03:08And they shall make an Ark of Shittimwood.
03:11What is Shittimwood?
03:13Well, I looked it up on Google and I don't know if this is true, but it's saying Shittimwood
03:17is a plural word that comes from the Shittah tree found growing in the Sinai Desert and
03:25Jordan River Valley.
03:27So this wood apparently is in this area where they were building the Ark in the Sinai Desert.
03:35We know that Moses came down from Mount Sinai and it's described as a hard, dark wood with
03:43interlocked irregular and coarse textured grain.
03:49It also said that it was susceptible to insects.
03:53I don't know if it was back then, but that's what Shittimwood is.
03:56You see different kinds of woods in the Bible.
03:59You know that the Ark that Noah built to put all the animals and his family in was
04:06gopher wood, but this is a different kind of wood, this is Shittimwood.
04:11The Bible says two cubits and a half shall be the length thereof, and a cubit and a handbreadth
04:17thereof, and a cubit and a half the height thereof.
04:21So he's giving them exact measurements of how this thing should be.
04:25And thou shalt overlay it with pure gold, within and without shalt thou overlay it,
04:31and shalt make it upon a crown of gold around about it.
04:35So apparently if you can imagine a box, I don't know, maybe because it is susceptible
04:42to insects is why God told him to overlay it with gold, is they're taking gold and they're
04:47laying it around the lip of it, around the sides of it, and the inside of it.
04:51So they're pretty much covering the whole thing with gold is what he's telling them
04:55to do.
04:56And they shall overlay it, I'm sorry, and they shall cast four rings of gold for it,
05:02and put them in the four corners thereof, and two rings shall be in the one side, and
05:07two rings in the other side of it, thou shalt make staves or long poles of shittimwood,
05:13and overlay them with gold.
05:15So I drew a little picture, and this is not to scale, and I'm not any kind of an artist,
05:20but, you know, and I don't like to use movies for references, but I will tell you that whoever
05:27wrote Indiana Jones and the Raiders of the Lost Ark, they did a lot of research, and
05:32where they got it from was from the Bible.
05:34Because when you look at the Ark that they're toting around, you know, the idea of the movie
05:40is that the Nazi army, if they tote around the Ark of the Covenant, it's supposed to
05:44give them power, and it's supposed to win wars.
05:47That was the whole idea of the movie.
05:49But when you look at the Ark, and you read it in the Bible, this is exactly how it was
05:54created.
05:55It's a box like this, and then it's got a ring on this side, a ring on this side, and
06:02a ring on the other side for you to take two poles and put in here, you know, for them
06:09to carry it on their shoulders, one on one side and one on the other.
06:14And it's just a box, and they overlaid it with gold on the inside and outside, and then
06:19we're going to talk about the top of it.
06:21I know that's weird, but it's supposed to be angels, cherubims.
06:29Where's that?
06:30So the four rings are for them to take the posts, the poles, or they're calling them
06:37staves, and overlay them with gold, and they're supposed to tote this thing everywhere.
06:41So the Ark is mobile.
06:44It's supposed to be toted with them.
06:46It's not just to be sitting somewhere.
06:48They wanted them to take it wherever they went because they're fixing to be moving around
06:53for quite a long time.
06:54And if you read the Bible, and you'll see that, you know, after Moses, then Joshua,
06:59they went across the Jordan River, they did all these wars, and they toted the Ark of
07:03the Covenant with them all over the place.
07:08And shall put the staves in the rings by the sides of the Ark, and the Ark may be born
07:12with them.
07:14The staves shall be in the rings of the Ark.
07:17They shall not be taken from it.
07:19And thou shalt put in the Ark the testimony, which is the Ten Commandments, which thou
07:23shalt give thee.
07:27The next thing is the mercy seat, the mercy seat.
07:31Look at verse 17, still in the same chapter, Exodus 25.
07:36And thou shalt make a mercy seat of pure gold, two cubits and a half shall be the length
07:42thereof, and a cubit and a half the breadth thereof.
07:45So we see that the Ark was laid in gold.
07:48So if you think about it, it's like tin foil or aluminum foil wrapped in, but it was gold.
07:54Well, the mercy seat is pure gold.
07:58Two cubits and a half shall be the length thereof, and a cubit and a half the breadth
08:02thereof.
08:02And thou shalt make two cherubims of gold.
08:05So this is supposed to be cherubs.
08:07I know that's like fish or whatever.
08:09I'm not that good of an artist, but it's basically an angel.
08:12And the cherubim is an angel with four wings.
08:17If you remember us talking about that a while back.
08:19So cherubims is two, cherub is one of gold of beaten work, shall thou make them in the
08:27ends of the mercy seat.
08:28So you got one cherubim here, one cherubim there, and you got a space in the middle.
08:36And make the cherubim on the end, on the other end, even the mercy seat, shall you make the
08:41cherubims on the two ends thereof.
08:43And the cherubims shall stretch forth their wings on high, covering the mercy seat with
08:49their wings, and their faces shall look one to another.
08:53Toward the mercy seat shall the faces of the cherubims be.
08:56So you see, actually, I drew it backwards.
09:00It's actually supposed to be holding in a vowel.
09:09The faces should be right here.
09:23Hey, they're smiling, they're happy.
09:25And it should be like that, something like that, okay?
09:29You get the idea.
09:31It's not art class.
09:35Now shall I put the mercy seat above the ark, above upon the ark.
09:41So it's basically a lid.
09:42It's a solid gold lid that goes on top of this box.
09:45So this box has got to be pretty strong.
09:47So that's why this shidom wood is so strong, is it's got to hold a solid gold lid, basically,
09:55for this box.
09:57And there I will meet with thee, and I will commune with thee from above the mercy seat
10:02and between the two cherubims which are upon the ark of the testimony of all things which
10:07I will give thee in commandment unto the children of Israel.
10:10So if you continue reading throughout the Bible, and you just look at the word ark,
10:15you'll see that every time the Lord, this is where he sits.
10:20That's why this is called a mercy seat, because when he meets with Moses, that's where he
10:25sits, the Lord Jesus Christ, because we know it's not God the Father, because no man can
10:31see him and live.
10:32But every time that he comes to the tabernacle in a cloud, that's what happens.
10:38He's sitting in the mercy seat.
10:40That's why it's called a seat.
10:43So he's sitting on the ark.
10:48And that's where he's going to visit with them.
10:51The next thing, number three, is the table, the table.
10:54Look at Exodus 25, 23.
10:57Now shall I also make a table of shittim wood, two cubits shall be the length thereof, and
11:03a cubit for the breadth thereof, and a cubit and a half the height thereof.
11:07And thou shalt overlay it with pure gold, and make thereto a crown of gold round about.
11:14And thou shalt make unto it a border and a handbreadth round about.
11:19And thou shalt make a golden crown to the border thereof round about.
11:24And thou shalt make it four rings of gold, and put the rings in the corners that are
11:29on the four feet thereof.
11:31Over against the border shall the rings be for places of the staves to bear the table.
11:37And thou shalt make the staves of shittim wood, and overlay them with gold, and the
11:41table may be borne with them.
11:44So it's clear that you're making a table out of wood, covering it with gold, and there's
11:52four rings in it.
11:53Why?
11:54Well, because, again, it's mobile.
11:57They want, the Lord wants the Ark of the Covenant to be mobile.
12:01He wants the table to be mobile.
12:04So what is the table supposed to represent?
12:06Well, it's to hold the show bread.
12:09Let's keep reading.
12:11And overlay them with gold, and the table be borne with them.
12:13And thou shalt make the dishes thereof, and spoons thereof, and the covers thereof, and
12:20bowls to cover with all.
12:22A pure gold shalt thou make them, and thou shalt set upon the table show bread before
12:29me always.
12:30Well, why is that?
12:31What is the deal with the show bread?
12:33Well, if you remember when they were in the wilderness, what happened?
12:39God sent manna from heaven, and that was to represent Jesus being the bread of life.
12:45And that's what the show bread is.
12:47We would spell it S-H-O-W, but they spell it S-H-E-W.
12:53It's to show bread.
12:55It has nothing to do with the bread itself.
12:57It has to do with Jesus Christ being the bread of life.
13:02Number four that we see is a candlestick.
13:05Look at verse 31, still in Exodus 25.
13:08And thou shalt make a candlestick of pure gold, a beaten work shall the candlestick
13:14be made, his shaft and his branches, his bowls, his knops, and his flowers shall be
13:19of the same.
13:20So this is a pure gold candlestick, not covered.
13:24And six branches shall come out of the sides of it, three branches out of the candlestick
13:28out of one side, and three branches out of the candlestick of the other side.
13:32Three bowls make light unto almonds, with a knop and a flower, with one branch in there,
13:38and three bowls made like almonds in the other branch, with a knop and a flower.
13:43So in the six branches that come out of the candlestick, and in the candlestick shall
13:47be four bowls made like unto almonds, with their knops and their flowers.
13:52And there shall be a knop under two branches of the same, and a knop under the two branches
13:58of the same, and a knop under two branches of the same, according to the six branches
14:02that proceed out of the candlestick.
14:04Their knops and their branches shall be of the same.
14:08It shall be one beaten work of pure gold, and thou shalt make the seven lamps thereof,
14:15and they shall light the lamps thereof, and they may light over against it, and the tongs
14:20thereof, and the snuff dishes thereof, shall be of pure gold.
14:24Of a talent of pure gold shall he make it with all these vessels, and look that thou
14:29make them after their pattern, which was showed thee in the mount.
14:34So the whole thing that everything that Moses is telling them to do, the ark, the mercy
14:39seat, the table, the candlestick, and the tabernacle was shown to him.
14:45And when he was in the mount of Sinai, the Lord showed him how it was supposed to be
14:49done.
14:52Well, just like always, the Jews take a little bit of something in the Bible and makes it
14:59into what?
15:00Makes it into something of their own.
15:02So the seven candlesticks is biblical.
15:07It's of God.
15:09They call it the menorah, the menorah.
15:12But the Jews, what they do is they take the menorah and they light a candle every day
15:18for the day for Hanukkah.
15:20Hanukkah is something around Christmas that they celebrate.
15:24And what they do is they take one candlestick and they light the candlestick for each of
15:30the seven days of Hanukkah.
15:33Well, Hanukkah is a holiday that they celebrate.
15:39And guess what?
15:40It replaces Christmas.
15:41It replaces Christmas.
15:43So they're trying to light a candle every day for Hanukkah, for whatever they're celebrating.
15:48And they're really snuffing out Jesus because this, if you read this, what are you supposed
15:54to do?
15:54You take the seven lamps and you light all seven of the lamps at the same time.
16:00It's not one for each day.
16:02What is this to represent?
16:04I think it's got to do with the seven spirits of God.
16:08Good Isaiah.
16:11Keep your finger there and go to Isaiah.
16:17Isaiah 11.
16:22So this is supposed to represent the Lord.
16:24It's not light one candle and light the other.
16:27The seven is supposed to represent to light the path.
16:32You know, we know that the word of God lights our path.
16:36But look at Isaiah 11 verse one.
16:40And there shall come forth out forth a rod out of the stem of Jesse and a branch shall
16:47grow out of his roots.
16:47That's talking about the Lord Jesus Christ.
16:50He came out of the stem and the branch of Jesse because he was of the house of David.
16:55But he came out of the branch because he is God and the spirit of the Lord shall rest
17:01upon him.
17:03The spirit of wisdom.
17:04That's the first one understanding.
17:07That's number two spirit of counsel.
17:09That's number three and might the spirit of knowledge and the fear of the Lord and shall
17:13make him of quick understanding in the fear of the Lord.
17:17And he shall not judge after the sight of the eyes, neither approve after the hearing
17:22of his ears.
17:23But with righteousness shall he judge the poor and reprove with the equity for the weak
17:29of the earth.
17:30He shall smite the earth with a rod of his mouth and with the breath of his lips shall
17:34he slay the wicked and righteousness shall be the girdle of his loins and his faithfulness,
17:39the girdle of his reins.
17:40Go back to Exodus.
17:42So what we see here is the seven candlesticks.
17:46The Jews want a hijacking called the menorah, and they want to light each candlestick for
17:52a day of Hanukkah, which is totally taking out Jesus, taking out Christmas.
17:58They want to replace Christmas with Hanukkah.
18:02Just like they want to replace Easter with the Passover.
18:05Every time you see that you see them replacing something of good, the Passover.
18:11Jesus was a Passover.
18:12That's why we don't celebrate the Passover.
18:15We celebrate the death, burial and resurrection.
18:18We celebrate the resurrection of Jesus Christ.
18:23But they want to celebrate something else.
18:25I don't even know what Hanukkah has to do with, and I really don't care, but I want
18:29you to see that this is what they do.
18:33But it's not meant to be done that.
18:34If you read the Bible, they're supposed to light all seven, not one each day.
18:40And the last thing is the tabernacle.
18:43Uh, Exodus 25, go to verse eight, verse eight and let them make a sanctuary that I may dwell
18:53among them.
18:54According to all that I show thee after the pattern of the tabernacle and that pattern
19:01of the instruments thereof, even so, even so sure you make it go to Exodus 26.
19:09So we're going to see how the tabernacle is created.
19:13And I believe you're going to find out that as we go through the book of Hebrews, that
19:19this pattern that God keeps showing Moses is exactly like in heaven.
19:25The tabernacle is the same as the table, the showbread, mercy seat.
19:29All that stuff is still in heaven.
19:31And that's what the pattern on this earth as it was in heaven.
19:35Uh, look at, uh, Exodus 26 verse one, and this is quite a bit.
19:41So the first part is the curtains.
19:43He explains for them how to make the curtains of the tabernacle.
19:47So the curtains, it's a mobile tent.
19:51That's what it is.
19:52It's not a permanent structure.
19:54The Lord never wanted a permanent structure.
19:57And there's several reasons for that.
19:59And we'll get to that in a minute.
20:00Moreover, thou shall make the tabernacle with 10 curtains of fine twine, linen and
20:06blue and purple and scarlet.
20:09So if you remember when Jesus, when they were mocking him blue and purple and scarlet, these
20:14are the colors of royalty.
20:17And they were mocking Jesus, putting purple on him to mock him.
20:22The length of one curtain shall be eight and 20 cubits and the breadth of one curtain,
20:29four cubits.
20:30And every one of the curtains shall have one measure and the four, the five curtains shall
20:36be coupled together one to another and other five curtains shall be coupled one to another.
20:42So what you're seeing is these curtains are laid out a certain length and certain width
20:47and they're attached together.
20:49Now shall make loops of blue upon the edge of one curtain from the self edge of the coupling
20:55and likewise shall make all the uttermost of another curtain in the coupling of the
20:59second.
21:00So what he's explaining is that you're making, you know, like shower curtain rings is basically
21:06what it is.
21:07You think about shower curtain rings or rings that are going around something to hang on
21:12a pole of some sort to hang down.
21:1750 loops shall thou make in one curtain.
21:20So 50 curtain rings or whatever you want to call them is what he's saying.
21:24Make these loops so you can put it through a rod to hang it down and 50 loops shall thou
21:30make in the edge of the curtain that is the coupling of the second that loops may take
21:34hold one to another.
21:36Now shall make 50 tatches of gold and couple the curtains together with the tatches and
21:43it shall be one tabernacle.
21:45And then that's basically part of the curtain.
21:49Then look at verse 7.
21:51Thou shall make curtains of goat's hair to be covered upon the tabernacle.
21:56So they're supposed to make the curtains and they're supposed to cover them in goat hair.
22:01Even 11 curtains shall thou make.
22:03The length of one curtain shall be 30 cubits and the breadth of one curtain 4 cubits and
22:0911 curtains shall be of one measure.
22:12Why are they covered in goat's hair?
22:14Well, first of all, because God told them.
22:16Number two, I think it's to protect it from the elements.
22:19If you think about a goat's skin or animal skin, this is made out of fine twine linen.
22:26That's not going to be very durable when it starts raining.
22:30That's not going to be very durable in the wind.
22:32So if you take goat's hair or skin type stuff, then that can protect them.
22:38If you think about the Indians and people later on, they use animal skins as covering
22:46because that's what happens.
22:48The length of one curtain shall be 30 cubits and the breadth of one curtain 4 cubits and
22:5411 curtains shall be of one measure.
22:56And thou shall couple 5 curtains by themselves and 6 curtains by themselves and shall double
23:03the 6th curtain in the forefront of the tabernacle.
23:06So the front part needs to be doubled because it's being protected by the weather.
23:12And thou shall make 50 loops of the edge of the one curtain that is outmost in the coupling
23:16and 50 loops in the second of the edge of the curtain which coupleth the second.
23:21Thou shall make the 50 tatches of brass and put the tatches in the loops and couple the
23:26tent together that it may be one.
23:29And the remnant that remaineth of the curtains of the tent, the half curtain that remaineth
23:34shall hang over the back side of the tabernacle and a cubit on the other side and a cubit
23:40on the other side of that which remaineth in the length of the curtains of the tent
23:45it shall hang over the sides of the tabernacle on this side and on that side to cover it.
23:51So we see a lot of detail here that the Lord's telling Moses and he's telling the people
23:58and they're helping him make it.
24:00And then he's doing the same thing.
24:03Again, I believe it's the exact replica of what it is in heaven.
24:08And then you have the covering in the boards.
24:10Thou shall make a covering, look at verse 14, a covering for the tent of ramskin dyed
24:15red and a covering of badgerskin.
24:18So again, we see animal skin protecting the tabernacle from the elements, badgerskin and
24:28ramskin.
24:29Now, the strange thing to me is that, you know, you think about them being in the wilderness.
24:37I didn't know there's badgers in the wilderness.
24:40I mean, I didn't know there's, I mean, they probably brought some rams, but I don't think
24:43they brought any badgers with them.
24:46So this tells me that one thing had to happen or another, that God had to send some badgers
24:52out there because badgers, that's not where they normally live.
24:56They normally live in the woods and the wilderness when it's time out.
24:59If you just look on a map, it's the desert and there's not a lot of trees there other
25:03than these shittum trees that we see, the shittah trees from the wood.
25:10So badgers are really native to colder areas of woods.
25:17So that tells me about when I was reading this, that how did the badgers get there?
25:21Well, God had to send them there because, you know, the badger skin, what does it do?
25:26It's kind of like a beaver is protected by, from water.
25:31It's very thick.
25:32Thou shall make boards of the tabernacle of shittum wood, again, the same kind of wood
25:36that's only out there standing up.
25:38Ten cubits shall be the length of a board and a cubit and a half shall be the breadth
25:42of one board.
25:43Two tenons shall be in one board set in the other against another.
25:48Thou shall make for all the boards of the tabernacle, and thou shall make the boards
25:52of the tabernacle twenty boards on the south side, on the south side southward.
25:57And shall make forty sockets of silver under the twenty boards, two sockets under one board
26:04of his tenons, and two sockets under another board for two tenons, and the second side
26:09of the tabernacle on the north side shall be twenty boards and forty sockets of silver,
26:15two sockets under one board and two sockets under another board.
26:18For the sides of the tabernacle westward shall make six boards, and the two boards shall
26:24make for the corners of the tabernacle on the two sides, and they shall be coupled together
26:28beneath and they shall be coupled together above the head of it unto one ring.
26:35That shall be for them both, they shall be for the two corners.
26:40And there shall be eight boards and their sockets of silver, sixteen sockets, two sockets
26:45under one board and two sockets under another board.
26:49So what we see are these sockets and these, they're making the boards where they're not
26:57permanent.
26:58They're there as maybe like to walk on, but they're made again to be mobile with the tabernacle.
27:09And we see the bars.
27:10Now shall make bars of the shidom wood, five boards of the one side of the tabernacle and
27:16the five bars of the boards of the other side, and the five bars for the boards of the side
27:22of the tabernacle for the two sides westward, and the middle bar in the midst of the board
27:28shall reach from the end to the end, and I shall overlay the boards with gold and make
27:33the rings of gold for places for the bars, and I shall overlay the bars with gold and
27:40shall rear up the tabernacle according to the fashion thereof which was showed thee
27:44in the mount.
27:46And the last part of the tabernacle is the veil, is a veil.
27:51And I shall make a veil of blue and purple and scarlet, again the colors of royalty,
27:58and fine twine linen of cunning work, with cherubims shall it be made.
28:04And thou shalt hang it upon four pillars of shidom wood overlaid with gold.
28:10Their hook shall be of gold upon the four sockets of silver, and thou shalt hang up
28:16the veil under the thatches that thou mayest bring in thine thither within the veil of
28:22the art of the testimony, and the veil shall divide unto you between the holy place and
28:30the most holy.
28:32So you've got two places.
28:33You've got the holy place, which is where the priests just do everything they're supposed
28:38to, but then you've got the veil dividing the holiest of holy, and there's only one
28:45time in the year that the high priest could go in there, and that's the only time he could
28:51do that, it's one time a year.
28:53And he was to present blood sacrifice for the people for their sins.
29:00And thou shalt hang upon the veil of the thatches that thou mayest bring in thine thither within
29:05the veil of the testimony, the veil shall divide you into between the holy place and
29:09the most holy, and thou shalt put the mercy seed upon the ark of the testimony in the
29:15most holy place.
29:16Why?
29:17Because that's where the Lord's going to show up, that's where the Lord's going to show
29:20up, and the only way the high priest could show himself before the Lord Jesus Christ
29:26is for him to be cleaned by the blood of the lamb.
29:31Thou shalt put the mercy seed upon the ark in the most holy place, and thou shalt set
29:36the table without the veil and a candlestick against the table on the side of the tabernacle
29:43toward the south, and thou shalt put the table on the north side.
29:49So what you have is that the only thing that's in here is the ark of the covenant.
29:54This is why people thought the ark had so much power.
30:00And it did.
30:01There's several stories in it.
30:02In fact, I want you to go to 1 Samuel 6.
30:15What people didn't understand back then, it really didn't have anything to do with the
30:25ark of the covenant itself.
30:26It had to do with the Lord.
30:27The ark of the covenant was just a symbol, but I want to show you this story in 1 Samuel
30:366 about the ark.
30:41If you remember what happened was the Philistines stole the ark of the covenant.
30:46They brought it into their temple.
30:48They defiled it.
30:49They did all these things.
30:51And then look at 6 verse 7.
30:55What they do is they pretty much put a bunch of stuff inside the ark.
31:00I don't know what it is.
31:01It's mice, statues of mice, silly stuff, and they're defiling it.
31:07They're trying to mock the Lord when they took the ark.
31:11Look at verse 7.
31:20So what they do instead of toting it with sticks, the poles, they put it on a cart and
31:26they're rolling around.
31:38So this is the Philistines.
31:40They're just putting all this stuff in there, mocking it.
31:59And the men did so.
32:00And they took the two milch kind and tied them to the cart.
32:05So they're talking about animals toting it.
32:19And you say, what are emrods?
32:20Well, if you look at the word emrod, it talks about emrods and their secret parts.
32:27I don't know what this is.
32:29It's some kind of maybe like hemorrhoids or something.
32:35It's some kind of, you know, nuisance to people because it talks about emrods and their secret
32:42parts.
32:43So they're making gold images of hemorrhoids or something, some kind of, you know, nuisance
32:50and mice and they're putting it inside the ark.
32:52This is how weird they are.
32:55And the kind took the straight way of the way to Beth Shemesh and went along the highway
33:00lowing as they went.
33:01And they turned aside to the right, not aside, to the right or left.
33:05And the lords of the Philistines went after them and aborted them to Beth Shemesh.
33:09And they of Beth Shemesh were reaping their wheat harvest in the valley.
33:13They lifted up their eyes and saw the ark and rejoiced to see it.
33:16So you got to understand that they're out there working in the fields and the ark has
33:22been taken away from them to the Philistines.
33:25And now they're looking and they say, here it is, it's coming down the road.
33:29So they're excited about it.
33:31And the ark came into the field of Joshua, a Bethshemite, and stood there where there
33:37was a great stone and they clad the wood of the cart and offered the kind a burnt offering
33:43unto the Lord.
33:44So they just take the two animals and they make a burnt offering because they're happy
33:47about it being there.
33:49And the Levites took down the ark of the Lord and the coffer that was with it, the jewels
33:53of gold were, and they put on the great stone and the men of Beth Shemesh offer burnt offerings
34:00and sacrifice sacrifices the same day into the Lord.
34:03And when the five lords of the Philistines, so there's five people that are going down
34:07there with that, they returned to Ekron the same day.
34:10And these are the golden emrods, which the Philistines returned for a trespass offering
34:16unto the Lord and Ashdod, which is a false God, one for Gaza, one for, which is a false
34:25God and Ashkelon is a false God, one and for Gath and for Ekron, these are cities for one.
34:32If you remember that, um, um, Goliath was of Gath and the golden mice, according to
34:38the number of the cities of the Philistines belonging to the five lords, both the fence
34:42cities and country villages, even unto the great stone of Abel, where on they sat down
34:49the ark of the Lord, which the stone remaineth until this day in the field of Joshua, the
34:54best you might look at verse 19.
34:57And he smoked the men of Beth Shemesh who's he, because they had looked into the ark of
35:03the Lord and he smoked of the people 50,003 score and 10 men.
35:11So what does that?
35:12So 50,000 and then three score is what that's 20 is a score.
35:18So you got 50,000, um, and 70 men.
35:27God killed them because they looked inside of the ark because it says in the people lamp
35:32lane lamp lamented because the Lord all caps had submitted many of the people with a great
35:39slaughter.
35:40Well, these, these 53 plus people, when they look inside the ark, they're thinking, Oh,
35:45we're getting away with, we're throwing these mice and these emeralds and all this stupid
35:48stuff inside here.
35:49And we're mocking them.
35:50Well, God takes care of it.
35:52And what I want you to understand is sometimes when we think people will get away with stuff,
35:58they aren't.
35:59And the men of Beth Shemesh said, who was able to stand before this Holy Lord God and
36:04to whom shall he go up from us?
36:07And they sent messengers to the inhabitants of Kirjath Jerem saying, the Philistines have
36:12brought down again, the Lord, the ark of the Lord, come you down and fetch it up.
36:17So they're mocking God, they're mocking the Hebrews and they're sending all this goofy
36:22stuff inside their mice and emeralds and whatever that is.
36:26And they're trying to mock God and God says, uh, I'm going to take care of this.
36:31So sometimes when you think that God didn't want to take care of stuff, he will.
36:35So I want you to understand, and if this is going to come relevant, you say, what does
36:40this got to do with anything?
36:42Well, first of all, the Bible says that every word of God is for reproof, rebuke, and for
36:49some kind of reason.
36:51So we can gather something from this, but what can you gather from the day?
36:55Well, eventually that nation of Israel over there that's spit three times when they say
37:00Jesus name, when they hate everything about Jesus Christ, they hate everything about
37:04him.
37:05Um, they are going to get the temple built.
37:10It's going to happen.
37:11It's in, it's in revelation.
37:13The Antichrist is going to allow them to do that and they're going to start sacrificing
37:18and it's all about, you know, if you've been watching the news, uh, this dome of the rock
37:26is where the Muslims have their place and that the Jews want it so they can put their
37:30temple and then that's what it's all about.
37:33Nowhere in the Bible, nowhere in the Bible, in fact, God tells him he won't say tabernacle.
37:38He wants something mobile.
37:40So this is one reason you can understand that the Jews are not doing what God's saying,
37:46but you're going to have all these people talking about God helping out Israel to do
37:52these things.
37:54And it's just not true.
37:56The devil might be, but God's not.
37:58But I want you to understand by the house of the Lord, uh, you know, we respect this,
38:02we respect this building and what God wants to understand is that, that the house of God
38:09was not created with hands.
38:13So you know, you can go to the house of the Lord and we respect this building.
38:16We try to respect it.
38:17We keep it clean and do whatever, you know, we don't defile it, but you know, you can
38:20worship God in the house, you can worship him in the kitchen.
38:25We've done that in the living room, outside in a basement or in a prison.
38:29And that's what God wants to show us.
38:30It has nothing to do with a building or building codes.
38:34Uh, go to second Corinthians five, second Corinthians five, you know, you have all these,
38:50these religions.
38:51They talk about the house of the Lord and this is God's house.
38:54Well, that is true.
38:55We should respect that.
38:56Uh, we saw that every time that the Lord presented himself in the old Testament, people had to
39:02take their shoes off that irreverence, the light area.
39:05Uh, we see that nobody could touch the mercy seat because that's where the Lord himself
39:09sat on.
39:10That's why it was separated by, by the Holy of Holies.
39:13And in fact, if you went into the Holy of Holies and you weren't purified, you would
39:18die.
39:20Uh, look at second Corinthians five verse one.
39:25And we know that if our earthly house of this tabernacle were dissolved.
39:30So what is saying that if this building here was burnt down, blown down, whatever dissolved,
39:37we have a building of God and house not made with hands eternal in the heaven.
39:43So the Bible is showing us here is that don't worry about this building.
39:47If a bunch of freaks come over here and burn it down to the ground or a tornado takes it
39:52away or whatever happens or floods or whatever, that we shouldn't worry about that because
39:57we have one not made with hands eternal in the heavens.
40:01What's this talking about?
40:02Talking about Jesus Christ.
40:04Jesus told him that three days this temple was going to be taken down and built back
40:08up.
40:09He's talking about his body.
40:10He wasn't talking about the building because then they're thinking physically and say,
40:14well, this building was built in 46 years that you're going to build it in two, three
40:18days.
40:19Well, he could because he's God, but that's not what he was talking about.
40:22He's talking about his body being the temple for in this we grown earnestly desiring to
40:28be clothed upon with our house, which is from heaven.
40:33If so be that being clothed, we shall not be found naked for we that are in this tabernacle
40:42do grown, being burdened.
40:45Not for that we would be unclothed, but clothed upon that mortality might be swallowed up
40:52of life for now.
40:54Now he that has wrought us for the self, same thing is God who also had given unto us the
41:03earnest of the spirit.
41:05So we see that the Bible here is showing us the physical things, the physical tabernacle,
41:11the physical things, your physical mortality of your body, that we shouldn't worry about
41:17these things because we still have Jesus Christ.
41:21He's not just some little statue that you come and you bring omnits to like other religions
41:28are.
41:29We can worship Jesus anywhere because he is God.
41:31He's the only one that like that.
41:33You know, other people, they have to go to some building or shrine and put up a candle
41:39or whatever for Mary or whatever.
41:42And you have to go there.
41:43You don't have to do that because Jesus is that mediator between God and man.
41:52And that we know that we have the earnest or the down payment of the spirit, talking
41:56about the Holy Spirit, that the same person that built this tabernacle, the same person
42:02that sat on the mercy seat, the same person that gave his life, the same person that rose
42:08three days later is the same one that gave us the down payment of the Holy Spirit.
42:14The moment we put our trust in the Lord Jesus Christ, we had that down payment.
42:18This is one reason the big one of the main reason besides God promised us eternal life,
42:24that I will never go to hell because I have that down payment of the Holy Spirit in me.
42:30You do too, if you believe on the Lord Jesus Christ and he's not going to send the Holy
42:34Spirit to hell.
42:35Look at verse six, therefore, he's saying all these verses, therefore, why is this therefore?
42:41Because we are always, always confident knowing that while we are at home in the body, we're
42:49absent from the Lord.
42:50So I preach a sermon about being confident in the things.
42:53The only thing you can be confident of is if at some point in time in your life, you
42:58put your trust in the Lord Jesus Christ and his righteousness and his death, burial, resurrection
43:03for your salvation and get you to heaven, that we are confident knowing that we're here
43:09in the body.
43:10We're absent from the Lord and did the opposite.
43:13If we're absent from the Lord, we're not on this earth and we can have that confidence
43:18and that knowing that believers who have died in Christ are with the Lord and you will see
43:25him again.
43:26People don't have that confidence in going to hell.
43:30You know, there's this goofball thing that people say, we'll have a party in hell.
43:33You're not going to party in hell.
43:35Nobody's partying in hell.
43:36They're going to, you know, they say, well, I'm going to rule and reign in hell.
43:40No, you're not.
43:41The only thing that's going to be reigning on you is fire and brimstone gnashing your
43:44teeth while Jesus is looking down on you.
43:47So I want you to understand this is a lot of information, but I want you to understand
43:52that everything that we see, the ark of the testimony, the mercy seat, the table that
43:58with a showbread on it, the candlestick, the tabernacle is all the same thing in heaven.
44:04And Moses was shown that.
44:07Let's bow our heads and have a word of prayer.
