00:00You used your primetime moment tonight to not only talk about yourself, but to share
00:05personal stories about Kamala Harris.
00:07You also used the moment to really talk about and share some of the issues that you hope
00:12to really address.
00:13Talk to our audience a little bit about some of those key issues with the economy, with
00:18women's right to choose, and some of the other issues that are so central to your campaign
00:22for Senate.
00:23You know, economic opportunity, I think, is the number one issue for most families.
00:28And part of what you heard me talk about, her Back on Track program recognized that
00:33people need opportunity, that they need job training.
00:37You notice that the apprenticeships, the other things that are needed, and this is a focus
00:42that I have also had as county executive and will continue to do, making sure that opportunity
00:47is there.
00:48I call it the first chance.
00:49You know, we often talk about people in the criminal justice system who are looking for
00:53second chances, and I recognize many of those people never had the first chance at success.
00:58So investing in affordable housing, investing in jobs and growing income, investing in the
01:03health care of people, making sure that people have the opportunity to make their own health
01:07care decisions, that women have the freedom to do that, really is core to our success
01:12in this country, is core to us experiencing the American dream.
01:16And I recognize that, and I know that Vice President Harris does as well, is that those
01:21investments have to happen early and often for us to really have the fair shot at the
01:26American dream that we deserve.
